Job description

SeaHarbor Insurance LLC – Dallas, TX

Hybrid schedule available following successful onboarding; initial training is primarily in-office to support development and team integration

SeaHarbor Insurance is a growing nonstandard auto carrier committed to high-quality claim outcomes and a strong, collaborative culture. We are seeking an experienced Auto Damage Estimator to support our claims team through accurate, consistent, and defensible vehicle damage estimates.

This is a technical, desk-based role focused on estimating and cost evaluation. The position partners closely with internal adjusters and repair facilities to ensure estimates reflect appropriate repair methodology, pricing, and claim context.

What You’ll Do

  • Review, write, and revise auto damage estimates using estimating platforms (Snapsheet, CCC, or Mitchell).
  • Evaluate repair methodology, including repair vs. replace decisions, labor operations, and refinish processes.
  • Analyze estimate content to identify:

Duplicate or unnecessary line items

Excessive labor or material charges

Unsupported repair operations

  • Review shop-submitted estimates and challenge scope or pricing discrepancies as appropriate
  • Support internal claims staff by ensuring estimates align with loss details, damage patterns, and repair feasibility
  • Identify and escalate potential total loss indicators based on estimate and damage review
  • Identify estimates that do not align with the reported damage or include unsupported or excessive charges
  • Communicate with repair facilities and internal partners to clarify scope and resolve estimate differences
  • Maintain clear, well-documented estimate files to support accuracy and defensibility

What You Bring

  • Experience in auto damage estimating, field appraising, or collision repair
  • Strong understanding of:

Collision repair process and repair methodology

Parts usage (OEM, aftermarket, LKQ)

Labor operations and refinish fundamentals

  • Proficiency with estimating systems such as Snapsheet, CCC, or Mitchell
  • Ability to evaluate estimates critically and identify cost drivers, inconsistencies, or unsupported charges
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
  • Confidence working with repair facilities and internal partners to resolve estimate differences
  • Ability to recognize irregular or non-standard estimate activity, including potential billing discrepancies or fraud indicators
  • Clear and professional communication skills
  • Comfort working in a structured, team-oriented environment with in-office collaboration
  • Nonstandard auto experience is a plus

Work Environment

Primarily in-office during onboarding and training period

Hybrid work arrangement available after successful onboarding and demonstrated proficiency

Collaborative, team-focused environment with strong peer and leadership support

Why SeaHarbor

In-person collaboration with engaged leadership

Focused, technical role without customer-facing claim handling

Opportunity to build and strengthen estimating judgment and repair expertise

Clear expectations and emphasis on quality, consistency, and defensibility

Growing organization with opportunity for long-term development

Benefits:

  • 401(k) with company match
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Free on-site fitness center access
  • Paid Time Off and paid holidays
  • Disability insurance
  • Flexible spending account (FSA) and Dependent care (FSA)
  • Basic and voluntary life insurance
