Job description

We’re looking for an individual who loves to tell a great story and who can push the envelope of how it’s told. As a Senior Video Editor, you will join the POOLHOUSE Post-Production department in working with footage, dialogue, music, sound effects, and motion graphics to bring stories to life for companies, causes, and candidates.

The job is equal parts storytelling instinct and technical craft. That’s why we need you to care as much about the visuals as the narrative. At the core, your responsibility is to create content that’s memorable, visually stunning, and built to be shared. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who obsesses over pacing, notices the difference a single frame can make, and cares just as much about how something feels as how it looks.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Ingest, organize, and edit footage into high-quality, cohesive, story-driven videos
  • Design and integrate motion graphics, titles, and animation
  • Execute sound design, audio mixing, color correction, and project finalization
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Communicate regularly with cross-functional departments to assess the scope and challenges of various projects to maintain on-time delivery
  • Prepare final deliverables to platform, client, or broadcast specifications
  • Seek ways to refine and improve internal post-production processes to increase efficiency and quality of content
  • Facilitate daily department meetings to keep the post-production team aligned, support collaboration, and ensure tasks and responsibilities are clearly understood and shared
  • Partner with the Creative Project Coordinator, providing clear visibility into department capacity and project progress to inform resourcing, task assignment, and timeline management

Requirements

  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and Media Encoder
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe After Effects, including independent design and animation of titles, lower thirds, and motion graphics
  • Proficiency in color correction and basic grading, balancing footage, matching shots, and establishing a cohesive visual look
  • Strong audio finishing skills, including mixing dialogue, music, and sound effects
  • Working knowledge of cameras, codecs, frame rates, file formats, and delivery specifications across platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose technical and editorial issues and propose effective solutions
  • Strong attention to detail, with consistently high standards for visual and editorial quality
  • Ability to interpret creative direction, craft compelling narratives, and execute polished final edits
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining organization across timelines, assets, and versions
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with distributed teams
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in post-production environments
  • Position is based out of our office in Richmond, VA; applicants must be willing and able to fulfill the role in person
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire. POOLHOUSE does not sponsor employment visas for this position
  • This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports or team management responsibilities

Application Requirements:

  • A demo reel of your strongest work completed independently. We’re looking for pieces that show how you think, how you cut, and how you bring a story to life (personal or professional). Applications without a demo reel will not be considered.
  • A portfolio or website of your work. Take us beyond the reel and share your credits from each project.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on industry standards
  • A collaborative and creative work environment
  • 100% employer covered medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 100% employer covered medical for dependents
  • 12 days of PTO a year
  • Generous paid holiday schedule, including Thanksgiving week and Christmas Break
  • Parental Leave
  • 401k with employer match
  • Monthly cell phone stipend
  • Company funding for relevant continued education and skill development
