Job description

Video Editor/Producer, Editorial
Morningstar's mission is to empower investor success. We strive to illuminate investing in support of this mission, so we can reach and inspire current and future investors. We're looking for a strong video editor/producer who can take an idea or concept and deliver an engaging video or audio program for our digital platforms.
In this role:
You'll work with a cross-disciplinary squad of designers, producers, social media managers, journalists, and investment specialists to take our ideas and information and translate it into dynamic video and audio content. You'll understand the mechanics of how videos and podcasts get made; you'll be ready to produce compelling short-form videos on the fly; and you'll collaborate on how best to carry out the video and audio strategy for editorial.
We're looking for someone who will:
  • Film and edit the video version of our weekly award-winning podcast, The Long View.

  • Partner with audio engineer on podcast production and manage the content workflow for The Long View.

  • Record and edit videos for quick-turn productions and short-form, video content in the US, and Europe when needed.

  • Collaborate with audience engagement editors on social video content and podcast promotion.

  • Be ready for breaking news and how to cover it quickly and comprehensively.

  • Plan and help facilitate subscriber-only events like Q&As and bonus podcast episodes.

  • Support on-air hosts, investment specialists, and editorial writers and help them bring their ideas to video or podcast formats.

  • Pilot new tools alongside the audience engagement team for quick-turn social media content, including YouTube Live broadcasts.

  • Manage the transcription and closed caption production process as needed.

  • Repurpose content from long-form videos and podcasts for clips and short videos.

You might be a good fit if you:
  • Have at least 3 years of experience working on deadlines at a digital publication, broadcast network, or content-focused organization in video and audio production.

  • Strong understanding of video and audio trends in traditional media and social media.

  • Experience with video editing software, including Adobe Premier or Final Cut Pro.

  • Demonstrates strong news judgement and the ability to hit deadlines consistently.

  • Interest in and experience in investing, personal finance, or stock markets.

  • Experience producing for broadcast and working within the production process of a video or podcast operation.

  • A degree in journalism, film, communications or a related field.

  • Understanding search and AI optimization and how it factors into a multimedia strategy.

$81,325.00-119,275.00
