  • Create finished Class A and final trim surfaces for physical design properties and prototype interior components.

  • Interpret fabrication blueprints and collaborate with designers, engineers, and stakeholders to solve design and engineering challenges.

  • Execute trim work in line with program timing, model quality targets, and GM Global Fabrication processes and best practices.

  • Support studio teams and DFO leadership through active participation in program meetings, build discussions, and customer-facing problem solving.

  • Mentor trim shop team members in standardized work, technical skills, and emerging trimming practices and procedures.

  • Maintain accurate use of corporate systems and tools, including Teamcenter, SharePoint, Outlook, Slack, and timekeeping platforms.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Full understanding of trimming methodology and the ability to independently trim all aspects of multiple property types.

  • Proven ability to incorporate engineering criteria into a functional and visually refined physical property.

  • Advanced bench engineering capability and strong technical judgment across trim-related disciplines.

  • Experience leading trim-related projects and guiding peers through complex builds and problem solving.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present build strategies, part break-up plans, and assembly procedures to Fabrication Engineering and cross-functional partners.

  • Functional knowledge of current software tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Adobe Illustrator.

  • Ability to operate trim shop technologies and associated software, including laser etching, vinyl cutting, Eastman cutting, foam milling, embroidery, perforation, and graining equipment.

  • Functional knowledge of trim technologies with the ability to clearly explain operating requirements, applications, and constraints for each.

  • Ability to work directly and independently with suppliers and vendors, including procurement of equipment and supplies.

  • Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting timing and quality expectations.

  • Strong leadership capability with a demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and provide actionable developmental feedback to others.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • High level of creative proficiency paired with excellent time management and adaptability in a fast-paced studio environment.

  • Track record of driving innovation, continuous improvement, and adoption of new methods, tools, or equipment.

  • Ability to lead through change and help others overcome resistance while improving team and organizational performance.

  • Experience serving as a subject matter expert who drives cross-team solutions and strengthens collaboration across Studio and DFO partners.

  • Demonstrated agility, resourcefulness, and willingness to voice informed perspectives when navigating difficult decisions, conflict, or uncertainty.
