Description

Overview of Role: 

The Outside Plant Engineer (Senior) leads the design and installation oversight of outside plant fiber optic and structured cabling systems for the Department of Defense campus network infrastructure. Key responsibilities include designing underground, aerial, and building entrance cable systems; managing installation contractor activities and quality compliance; coordinating permit and facility access with base stakeholders; developing as-built documentation; ensuring adherence to applicable cabling standards; providing guidance on TEMPEST and physical security for cable plant; and supporting site surveys with comprehensive infrastructure assessments. 

Roles and Responsibilities: 

Leads outside plant (OSP) fiber optic and structured cabling system design and installation oversight for DoD campus network infrastructure. Designs OSP fiber optic and copper cable plant systems, including underground, aerial, and building entrance facilities; manages installation contractor activities and quality compliance; coordinates permit and facility access activities with base stakeholders; develops as-built OSP documentation; ensures compliance with TIA, BICSI, and DoD cabling standards; advises on TEMPEST and physical security requirements for cable plant; and supports site surveys with comprehensive OSP infrastructure assessments. "Systems Architect 

(Infrastructure) 

Educational and Certification Requirement:  

Over 10 years' experience and a M.A./MS degree.  

BICSI RCDD required; OSP fiber design experience; DAF SSI 7700 and AF Manual 33-214 familiarity 

Must have a Secret Clearance
