Wiggam Law

Atlanta, GA โ€ข On-site

Job description

Description
Wiggam Law is not your typical "grind-it-out" tax firm. We were recently recognized as one of the fastest-growing law firms in the U.S. because we do things differently. We believe that you shouldn't have to choose between a high-stakes legal career and being present for your family's milestones.
We are currently transitioning to a "Pod" leadership structure and are looking for a Force Multiplier to join us as a Senior Tax Attorney. This isn't just a role for a high-level technician; it's a role for a mentor and a builder. As a senior leader, you will own the strategy for a dedicated "Pod" of 2-4 professionals. Your success is measured not just by the results you get for your clients, but by the growth and success of the team you lead.
Why Wiggam Law?
  • The 1,500-Hour Advantage: We maintain a competitive 1,500 annual billable hour requirement. Why? Because we want you to attend the school play, go on vacation, and enjoy the life you're working so hard to build.
  • True Leadership: You will move away from the "individual contributor" burnout and into a role where you refine processes, mentor junior talent, and steer the ship.
  • A Real Path to the Top: Whether you are looking for another leadership role or a Partner track.

Responsibilities
โ€ข Metric Ownership: Lead your pod to meet or exceed key performance indicators (KPIs), specifically focusing on realization rates and billable hour targets.
โ€ข Mentorship & Training: Provide consistent, hands-on coaching to associate attorneys and EAs; conduct regular file reviews and provide documented feedback to elevate the team's technical skills.
โ€ข Workflow Oversight: Manage the team's case capacity, ensuring deadlines are met and resources are allocated efficiently across the pod's portfolio.
โ€ข Performance Reviews: Participate in the hiring, onboarding, and performance management of your direct reports.
Case Strategy & Technical Execution
โ€ข Responsible Officer: Serve as the lead strategist on a portfolio of complex federal and state tax controversy matters, including high-stakes audits, appeals, collections, and offshore compliance.
โ€ข Quality Control: Review and sign off on major filings, protests, and settlement proposals drafted by your team to ensure technical accuracy and strategic alignment.
โ€ข High-Stakes Negotiation: Lead complex negotiations with the IRS and state revenue agencies for the firm's most sensitive or high-value cases.
โ€ข Litigation Support: Attorneys Lead Tax Court litigation and strategy.
โ€ข Client Liaison: As the primary client liaison for your pod, you will serve as the trusted point of contact for the clients your team serves, building strong relationships, ensuring service expectations are consistently met, and stepping in to resolve concerns with the responsiveness and professionalism our clients expect.
Qualifications
โ€ข Credentials: Must possess an active Bar License and J.D.
โ€ข Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience in tax controversy (IRS and/or State levels).
โ€ข Management Track Record: Proven experience leading a team, managing direct reports, or overseeing the production of other professionals.
โ€ข Technical Mastery: Deep knowledge of IRS collections (OICs, IAs, CNC), audits, appeals, and penalty abatement procedures.
โ€ข Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax law into an actionable strategy for both clients and junior staff.
โ€ข Software Proficiency: Experience with legal practice management software (e.g., Clio), Adobe, and the MS Office Suite.
