Job description

Full-time 35 hours/week, Monday through Friday

NOT Remote


The Supportive Housing Activities Coordinator is responsible for working in coordination with the Supportive Housing Supervisor and Case Managers within the cities and towns where Supportive Housing is located to schedule recreational and educational programming for residents of those sites. The Supportive Housing Activities Coordinator is situated at the GSSSI main office in Springfield, but will travel to the Supportive Housing sites.

  • Assist in the coordination of a congregate meals program at the Supportive Housing sites;
  • Provide and promote social, educational, and recreational activities tailored to the interests of the residents;
  • Promote and communicate those activities directly offered by the Housing Authority;
  • Disseminate information from the Supportive Housing Supervisor to residents by creating newsletters, calendars, and/or information flyers that includes activities, events, and contact information for the Supportive Housing Coordinators, 24/7 emergency contact, and maintenance;
  • Develop formal and informal mechanisms to collect feedback from residents about current programs and elicits ideas for future programs that will engage them and create meaningful experiences. Plan and direct on- and off-site social activities, workshops, pro-health clinics, and educational programs.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies necessary to run activities and submit orders to the Supportive Housing Supervisor when replenishment is needed.
  • Perform outreach activities in the community to promote the availability of Supportive Housing services and activities at the site;

  • Good computer skills including working knowledge of word processing and data entry (including Windows and Word)
  • Knowledge of community resources helpful
  • Ability to work with persons with diverse backgrounds, skills and abilities
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to run group activities appropriate for older adults and adults with disabilities
  • Ability to work under pressure, with multiple interruptions and meet deadlines

All staff are expected to pursue and/or enhance personal cultural competence through education, training, and an openness to understanding all cultures.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

  • Satisfactory SORI, CORI, SAMs GSA, Mass Health Exclusion list and OIG checks
  • Satisfactory driver history report
  • Valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation
  • Adequate auto insurance as evidenced by current insured's Automobile Coverage Selections Page

Mileage reimbursement is $0.725 per mile.
