Job description

Role: Senior SQL Server DBA

Location: Charlotte, NC – Onsite

Contract position

Job Description:

Acts as a bridge between database and infrastructure teams, ensuring SQL Server environments are correctly configured, performant, and ready for AG based migration execution.

🔹 Key Responsibilities
• Validate infrastructure readiness for SQL Server workloads:
o Storage configuration (data/log/tempdb separation)
o Disk latency and throughput
o VM sizing (CPU, memory)
• Diagnose performance issues related to:
o IO bottlenecks
o CPU contention
o Network latency
• Validate and troubleshoot:
o Windows Failover Clusters
o AG connectivity and endpoints
o Listener and DNS configurations
• Assist in AG migration execution and performance monitoring
• Analyze SQL waits and correlate with infra metrics
• Work closely with infra teams to resolve:
o Storage performance issues
o Network/firewall delays
o Cluster misconfigurations
• Contribute to automation of validation and health checks

🔹 Required Skills
• Strong SQL Server DBA experience (HA/DR + performance)
• Good understanding of:
o Windows Failover Clustering
o Virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper V/Azure)
• Ability to interpret:
o Disk latency (ms)
o CPU ready / contention
o Network throughput
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
