Job description

We are looking for software engineer intern to join our internal platform team. You'll work across our full stack, GraphQL API (NestJS), React frontend (Next.js), and PostgreSQL database, building tools that advisors use to make real investment decisions. Scope scales with experience: early-career developers ship well-scoped features with mentorship, while senior developers drive architecture decisions and mentor others.
Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and ship features end-to-end across our internal platform.
  • Build and maintain integrations with financial data providers, including Black Diamond, Capital IQ, FMP, Box, and Redtail, including authentication, error handling, and data parsing.
  • Develop analytics and decision tools, including portfolio metrics, earnings tracking, and risk analysis used by advisors for real investment decisions.
  • Build AI-powered features, including document search, chat over internal knowledge, and workflow automation.
  • Participate in code review, testing, and the ongoing architectural restructure of the platform.

Requirements
  • Experience building and shipping real software in TypeScript or JavaScript, whether professional, academic, or personal projects.
  • Full-stack reasoning: understanding how a UI change relates to an API, and how an API relates to its data.
  • Clear, readable code and constructive participation in code review.
  • Clear communication with non-engineers; our users are financial advisors.
  • Curiosity about the financial domain, no finance background required.
  • Comfort using LLM coding assistance such as Claude Code or OpenAI models.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with Next.js, React, NestJS, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, TypeORM, Nx, or Bun.
  • Third-party API integration experience.
  • Fintech exposure.
  • Python experience.
  • Experience building LLM-powered features.

Benefits
  • Competitive hourly pay.
  • Flexible scheduling around class commitments.
  • Potential path to future opportunities with the firm.
  • Direct mentorship from experienced engineers, with scope that grows as you do.
  • Hands-on ownership of real features used by advisors for real investment decisions.
  • Exposure to modern tooling, including AI-powered development workflows and LLM coding assistants.
  • Small, collaborative engineering team with direct input into architecture and product direction.
