The Plum Borough School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated Varsity Softball Assistant Coach to support our Softball program and inspire student-athletes both on and off the field. This position offers an exciting opportunity to help shape a program built on teamwork, respect, and personal growth while promoting excellence in athletics and academics.
Position Summary
The Varsity Softball Assistant Coach will assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive program that supports the athletic and personal development of student-athletes. The successful candidate will serve as a mentor and role model, demonstrating leadership, sportsmanship, and integrity in all aspects of the program.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direction, leadership, supervision, and guidance to the team.
  • Collaborate with the coaching staff in organizing and conducting practices, games, and skill development sessions.
  • Support the head coach in coordinating and running camps for feeder programs.
  • Maintain effective communication with players, staff, and families to promote program values and expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with all WPIAL and PIAA rules and regulations, Board Policies, Administrative Regulations, School handbook procedures, PA School Code, HIPAA, and applicable Commonwealth laws.
  • Represent the Plum Borough School District and the Borough of Plum with professionalism, integrity, and positive sportsmanship at all times.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students and advocate for the community and its youth.
  • Maintain all required clearances, safety certifications, and mandated training as required by the district and state.
  • Report directly to the Varsity Head Coach and Athletic Director.
  • Collaborate with parent and booster groups to enhance the program and promote community involvement.

Qualifications
  • Previous coaching experience in a interscholastic sport preferred.
  • Strong understanding of game strategy, fundamentals, and player development.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
  • Commitment to promoting teamwork, respect, and academic success.
  • Must maintain all required state and district clearances and complete mandated coaching trainings.
