Job description

Company Summary

We are a premier, established industrial distributor specializing in metal fabrication systems, advanced CNC machinery, and turnkey robotic welding equipment. With decades of experience partnering with leading global automation brands, we deliver innovative production solutions to manufacturers nationwide. Our team thrives in a highly collaborative, autonomous environment that prioritizes deep technical training and long-term career progression.

Job Summary

The Robotic Welding Sales Engineer is a key sales role within our fast-growing automation division. In this position, you will serve as the subject matter expert on advanced welding processes and robotic integration. Rather than cold-calling, you will work consultatively alongside our regional sales team—evaluating manufacturing feasibility, designing custom application solutions, and delivering hands-on equipment demonstrations to help close complex automation deals. This is a highly stable, long-term career path backed by a massive corporate investment in your professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical authority on automated MIG/TIG welding applications, qualifying opportunities brought forward by the territory sales team.
  • Analyze customer weld prints, part geometry, joint details, and cycle time requirements to determine the viability of robotic automation.
  • Join virtual and in-person meetings with client engineering teams to discuss manufacturing processes, labor challenges, and throughput goals.
  • Program and operate robotic welding cells at our regional technology centers to showcase capabilities and prove out cycle-time estimates.
  • Partner with internal engineering and project management teams to design structurally sound, custom robotic weld packages.
  • Help coordinate a smooth handoff from the initial technical sales cycle to the physical deployment and integration phase.
  • Undergo intensive manufacturer-certified training on leading industrial robotics platforms and advanced weld-process software.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful sales experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong practical knowledge of industrial welding processes (MIG/TIG) with the ability to confidently discuss weld procedures, joints, and metallurgy.
  • Proficient in interpreting complex engineering drawings, structural weld symbols, and part specifications.
  • Willingness to travel up to 35% across a multi-state regional territory for customer site visits and product demonstrations
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to translate complex automation concepts to both business executives and shop-floor operators.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience programming or operating industrial 6-axis robotic arms.
  • Credentials such as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or formal trade certifications in manufacturing technology.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks) for conceptualizing tooling and part orientation.
  • Background working in or selling to high-precision industries like automotive, heavy equipment, or contract metal fabrication.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: Highly competitive base salary ($100,000 - $120,000) structured to provide strong income stability during training, transitioning to a high-earning commission structure (OTE of $300,000+).
  • Company Tools: Fully paid company vehicle, corporate credit card for travel, laptop, and phone.
  • Benefits: Robust corporate benefits package, including premium medical/dental/vision coverage, paid time off, and a company-matched retirement plan.
  • Professional Growth: Fully funded, world-class training programs with leading robotics and welding equipment manufacturers.
