  • Establish clear performance expectations, conduct regular one-on-ones, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Coordinate workload distribution across the team to meet deadlines during high-volume periods (season openings, month-end, year-end, audit)
  • Foster a team culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with the VP of Finance & Accounting to identify staffing needs, train new hires, and develop succession paths.

Revenue & POS Management
  • Oversee daily revenue reconciliation across multiple POS systems covering lift tickets, season passes, ski school, rentals, tubing, retail, and food & beverage - each with distinct transaction flows and reporting structures.
  • Review and approve daily revenue reports; investigate and resolve discrepancies between POS systems, the general ledger, and bank settlements.
  • Monitor revenue streams for accuracy of pricing, taxation, discounts, and promotional coding within each system.

Accounts Payable
  • Oversee the full AP cycle, including invoice receipt, coding, approval workflow, payment runs, and vendor file maintenance.
  • Review and approve AP disbursements, ensuring proper authorization and alignment with purchase orders and contracts.
  • Monitor AP aging and manage cash flow timing in coordination with the VP of Finance & Accounting.

Payroll
  • Oversee multi-cycle payroll for a year-round and seasonally variable workforce across full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees.
  • Review payroll runs for accuracy of hours, rates, tip allocations, benefit deductions, and tax withholdings prior to final submission.
  • Ensure compliance with Washington State wage and hour regulations, including overtime, paid sick leave, and applicable labor laws.

General Ledger, Month-End & Financial Reporting
  • Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and prepaid/deferred revenue schedules.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations for all key accounts, including cash, receivables, prepaids, fixed assets, and accruals.
  • Produce accurate and timely monthly financial statements, departmental P&Ls, and flash reports for the VP and senior leadership.

Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls across cash handling, revenue recognition, AP, and payroll to safeguard resort assets.
  • Document, review, and update accounting policies and procedures; communicate changes to team members and operations staff.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax requirements; coordinate with external CPA partners as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with multiple POS systems or high-volume transaction environments (hospitality, retail, food & beverage, ticketing, or similar).
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of accounting professionals.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software; experience with ERP systems a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must pass background check

Preferred
  • Experience in ski resort, outdoor recreation, hospitality, or multi-unit entertainment/venue accounting.
