Job description

GEMCO Constructors, LLC, headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, is a mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building automation systems and service contractor providing comprehensive design and build solutions for its customers throughout the United States.

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled mid-level HVAC Technician to join our national service team. Key details:

  • Perform advanced diagnostics, complex repairs, and preventative maintenance on commercial, industrial, and refrigeration systems
  • Travel to client locations nationwide on a 17-days-on / 4-days-off rotation
  • Competitive per diem and company-paid travel provided

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose and repair rooftop units, package systems, refrigeration equipment (walk-ins, reach-ins, glycol systems), and building automation controls
  • Recover, charge, and balance refrigerant systems
  • Complete final connections on split and ductless installs, including brazing, flaring, and power and control wiring
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and BAS/controls
  • Mentor Level 1 technicians and coordinate escalations with Level 3 staff or engineering
  • Complete detailed service reports, parts orders, and root-cause analysis documentation
  • Maintain company vehicle, manage parts and inventory, and uphold all EPA, OSHA, and lockout/tagout safety requirements

What You Bring

  • HVAC certification or journeyman-level experience; trade school or equivalent preferred
  • EPA 608 Type II or Universal certification required
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Strong electrical and controls knowledge, including BAS, VFDs, and refrigeration controls
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel nationally per rotation
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs., work at heights up to 100 feet, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday
