Job Description

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Mission Technologies Division (HIIMT), is seeking Junior, MidLevel, and Senior Radar Systems Engineers to join our dynamic team supporting advanced radar system development. Junior-level engineers will assist with technical planning, system design, system integration, and verification and validation efforts while working closely with senior engineers and external partners. They will gain handson experience across the full system lifecycle-from concept and design through test and operation-and build foundational skills in translating customer needs into robust hardware and software specifications within a collaborative, agile environment.

MidLevel Radar Systems Engineers will contribute more independently to these same technical activities, performing detailed analyses, supporting integration efforts, and helping shape system-level design decisions. They will also mentor junior team members and engage directly with crossfunctional stakeholders to ensure technical alignment.

Senior Radar Systems Engineers will lead complex radar engineering efforts, driving system architecture decisions, overseeing integration and test activities, and conducting advanced analyses to inform program direction. They will serve as technical leaders, guiding multidisciplinary teams, coordinating with customers, and ensuring system solutions meet mission requirements and performance objectives.

Aids in the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into effective hardware and software specifications. Helps perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, and interface definition to support system development. Works closely with a team of engineers and external partner vendors to develop solutions, identify risks, and ensure project success.

Mid-Level Radar Systems Engineer: 

Contributes to evaluation of technical planning, system design, system integration, verification and validation. Supports the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into effective hardware and software specifications. Senior Radar Systems Engineer:

Minimum Qualifications

Junior Radar Systems Engineer: 

  • 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's in a related field; or 0 years with a Master's degree in a related field; or a High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Academic or internship experience with Radar principles or Signals analysis.
  • Hands-on experience from academic projects or internships with the test, integration, and verification of hardware and software in a lab environment.
  • Ability to assist in the creation of technical documentation and reports.
  • Clearance:Secret Security Clearance to start
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with enhanced security checks

Mid-Level Radar Systems Engineer:

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Experience with Radar design or Signals analysis.
  • Experience contributing to system design, trade studies, RF chain analysis, and system performance analysis.
  • Experience with laboratory test equipment such as multimeters, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, power meters, etc.
  • Experience with Radar transmit strategies, Radar Signal Processing techniques, system integration, and test procedures.
  • Clearance:Secret Security Clearance to start
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with enhanced security checks

Senior Radar Systems Engineer:

  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Experience with Radar design or Signals analysis.
  • Experience contributing to system design, trade studies, RF chain analysis, and system performance analysis.
  • Experience with laboratory test equipment such as multimeters, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, power meters, etc.
  • Experience with Radar transmit strategies, Radar Signal Processing techniques, system integration, and test procedures.
  • Clearance:Secret Security Clearance to start

Preferred Requirements
