Job description

Spence Brothers, a Construction Manager, Design Builder, and General Contractor, is looking to fill a Proposal Specialist position based out of our Saginaw office.

The Proposal Specialist will participate in the preparation and submission of winning proposals and presentations for both federal and commercial pursuits. The position involves researching, writing, and producing client-facing documentation in support of the firm’s business development efforts with oversight from the Senior Proposal Manager.

The Proposal Specialist should exhibit strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The successful candidate is expected to be a self-starter and multitasker able to successfully manage multiple deadlines.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Development and submission of winning RFx responses and marketing packages.
  • Work closely with the Business Pursuit team in the development and application of “win strategies and themes” (considerate of strategic relationships, competitor intelligence, etc.) and articulate this message within the proposal and/or presentation.
  • Apply changes to proposal and presentation content resultant of management/sales team reviews.
  • Monitor proposal content to ensure compliance with submission requirements and evaluation criteria.
  • Research and gather information to include corporate information, service-offerings, relevant firm experience, the proposed team, and other materials, as relevant and required.
  • Assist/support the maintenance, augmentation, and improvement of the firm’s library of reusable content, templates, and processes to reduce response time and improve quality on future submissions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience preferred.
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent in relevant experience.
  • Strong familiarity with Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding and expertise producing federal proposals is desired.
  • Ability to work across organizations with effective communication and strong project management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and grammar skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-conscious, results-driven environment.

Skills We Would Love to See:

  • In-depth knowledge of FAR Clauses and strong ability to interpret requirements.
  • Familiarity with Standard Form 1442 (SF1442).
  • Ability to navigate SAM.gov and update vendor information.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

May work in seated positions for prolonged periods of time, perform sustained manual activities at low to moderate levels of exertion.
