Job Summary

The Senior Project Manager is a senior-level professional responsible for developing client relationships, managing and delivering engineering projects, and supporting strategic growth initiatives. This role blends project leadership, business development, and technical expertise, offering flexibility in technical background and client types served, including municipal, DOT, and or/private.

This position is well-suited for an experienced engineer who enjoys building trusting relationships with clients, leading complex projects, and contributing to the growth and development of engineering services and markets. The role requires a high degree of initiative, collaboration, and professional judgment.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develop and maintain long‑term relationships with clients, serving as a trusted advisor.
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities aligned with firm capabilities and strategic objectives.
  • Lead or support proposal development, including scope definition, schedules, and fee estimates.
  • Represent JEO in client meetings, industry events, and professional organizations to develop firm recognition.
  • Collaborate with technical departments to support market growth and service expansion efforts.
  • Serve as Project Manager for assigned projects, responsible for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Provide technical oversight and sound engineering judgment throughout the project delivery process.
  • Coordinate with internal staff, subconsultants, and stakeholders to deliver projects efficiently and profitably.
  • Monitor project financial performance and proactively manage risks, changes, and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes, standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across the firm to leverage expertise and resources.
  • Mentor and support engineering staff, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications and Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Wyoming and/or South Dakota Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, including significant project management responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering projects from planning through completion.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Preferred

  • Technical background may vary (e.g., transportation, water resources, water/wastewater, land or site development, or related fields).
  • Experience serving a variety of client types (e.g., municipal, DOT, private).
  • Experience contributing to business development, market growth, or service expansion efforts.
