The Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) is part of Caterpillar's Power & Energy segment. Through this global organization, Caterpillar designs and manufactures large (greater than 18 liters) diesel and natural gas engines, powertrains and key engine systems. About LEC (Lafayette Engine Center)
The Lafayette Engine Center (LEC) manufactures the Cat 3500, Cat 3600 and C175 engines helping Caterpillar become the world's leading manufacturer of off-highway diesel and natural gas engines.
The units built at LEC power mining trucks carrying ore to be processed, tugboats guiding ships to harbor, drill rigs tapping oil and gas reserves and generators bringing electricity to communities, hospitals and data centers
Job Summary:
This position will have primary responsibility for leading a high-visibility, LPSD capacity expansion initiative that is critical to achieving strategic business objectives. As a Project Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading high performing, cross functional teams using the recommended NPI/NSI processes to deliver incremental 3600 engines/gensets. NPI/NSI Program results are measured at each gateway and include successfully completing the deliverables defined by each specific NPI Gateway from launch through gateway 6.
What You Will Do:
  • Coordinating with the Orders/Scheduling, Logistics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Assembly/Test, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering to manage resources for each deliverable within the project.
  • Overseeing project progress and capital costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.
  • Influencing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.
  • Communicating with customers and managing expectations; ensuring effective use of project controls and reporting mechanisms.

What You Will Have:
  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Extensive Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Effective Communications: Extensive Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Problem Solving: Extensive experience and knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Program Management: Extensive experience and knowledge of the policies and techniques to manage a set of related projects within a program; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control the set of projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve program objectives.

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • Understanding of Caterpillar engine NPI/NSI Process
  • Demonstrated experience leading and coaching cross-functional teams, with the ability to quickly assemble and align resources to address program opportunities, technical challenges, and business objectives.
  • Strong self-starter with a high degree of personal initiative and the ability to work effectively both independently and within collaborative team environments.

Summary Pay Range:
$147,760.00 - $221,640.00
