How will you drive value within the organization as a Senior Director, Data Development?
  • Provide the vision, strategy, and operational framework to deliver reporting solutions that meet the business requirements of the organization.
  • Lead a team of developers to deliver high quality and reliable data using continuous improvement principles throughout the delivery and operational support models.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive data sharing program and work with key business stakeholders to provide frequent insight to help them make data-backed decisions.
  • Develop data standards working in collaboration with the data architecture team in terms of naming convention, storage, design, and deployments for the DWH.
  • Monitor usage and adoption of data applications/reports and own retirement strategy for unused objects.
  • Manage large, complex projects including program oversight and execution (Governance, Project Plans, Testing, Design, Requirements, Stakeholder/Communication Plans, Issue/Risk identification & resolution, project resourcing, project budget, etc.).
  • Assist in implementing, improving, and documenting data governance practices.
  • Contribute to IT Architecture Review Board meetings, protecting the interests of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence users.
  • Spend 30-40% of the week developing, testing, and implementing reporting processes.
  • Ensure all data sharing interfaces and reporting processes align to GLS’s Enterprise Architecture and Security standards.
  • Assist in identifying, driving, and enforcing best practices for change control, testing, information security, and data governance, making use of DevOps principals and the latest in cloud technology.
  • Coach and mentor team members to maintain current technology skills and assist with career development objectives; may exercise management authority concerning staffing, performance feedback, talent development, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminations
  • Delegation, organization, and priority management i.e., Scrum Master for the team.
  • Establish clear expectations with the business and effectively communicates when situations change.
  • Perform additional assignments and special projects as required by the needs of the company or as directed by management.
What should you already know to be successful as a Senior Director, Data Development?
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field required
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience with high proficiency in Business Intelligence, ETL, Data Architecture, and Business Analytics required
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in building data lake solutions required
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in building cloud data warehouses required
  • Experience with modern data encryption standards and secure data exchange processes preferred
  • Knowledge of Data Governance and Master Data Management preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of physical database design and data structures required
  • Advanced skill level in SQL, data modeling, data architecture, data profiling, and performance tuning required
  • Proven experience in overseeing the linking of cross-functional databases between disparate business units and systems required
  • Knowledge of SDLC and quality control processes to be followed in various projects required
  • Excellent project management skills to include the development of project timelines, tasks, assigned resources, dependency management and risk management
  • Exemplary critical thinking and problem solving to weigh the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and lead a team to decisions
  • Ability to quickly get to know products, processes, and business needs to enough level to drive projects, improvements, and product enhancements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Employment Requirements:
  • Significant portions of daily assignments involve application of manual skills requiring motor coordination in combination with finger dexterity

Schedule:
  • This position is full-time
  • This is an exempt level position whereby business need will dictate the exact work schedule which should be expected to vary at times. Generally, days and hours of work are flexible between the hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00am-6:00pm with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required, including overtime hours as business demands dictate
  • Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand
