Job description

Every building needs a roof-and at Carlisle Construction Materials (CCM), we make the insulation that helps protect the buildings where people work, learn, heal, and live. As the market leader in polyiso insulation, we're seeking a Senior R&D Scientist - Insulation to drive the next generation of high-performance roofing products.
In this role, you'll serve as a technical leader for our Insulbaseยฎ, SecurShieldยฎ, and ThermaThinยฎ insulation product lines, leading innovation from concept through commercialization. You'll develop advanced polyiso formulations, optimize manufacturing processes, evaluate emerging technologies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring new products to market. You'll also mentor scientists and engineers while contributing to Carlisle's intellectual property portfolio and representing the company within industry organizations.
What You'll Do
  • Lead R&D projects involving polyiso chemistry, formulation development, process optimization, and commercialization.
  • Develop next-generation technologies focused on higher R-values, sustainability, low-GWP blowing agents, and improved product performance.
  • Partner with manufacturing to troubleshoot production, improve processes, and support plant operations.
  • Utilize advanced analytical techniques and statistical methods to drive data-based decisions.
  • Ensure products meet applicable ASTM, FM, UL, and building code requirements.
  • Mentor junior scientists and share technical expertise across the organization.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related technical field (Master's or Ph.D. preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive R&D experience in polyiso, polyurethane, or related foam technologies.
  • Expertise in polymer chemistry, foam formulation, continuous lamination manufacturing, and product commercialization.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects from concept through commercial launch.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.
