Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops complex Mold Design concepts from Product Models and Drawings without assistance.
2. Completes Mold Designs and detailing in SolidWorks (part, assembly, and drawing files) within required
timelines.
3. Interfaces with Product Design Engineers to ensure a thorough understanding of product requirements and
provides feedback on new product designs for manufacturability (DFM).
4. Creates, follows, and enforces HPEC Mold design standards.
5. Organizes drawings according to department and project requirements, and provides BOMs, concepts, and
illustrations for new projects.
6. Mentors, trains, and supports junior Mold Design personnel, engineers, and apprentices.
7. Estimates design, build, delivery, and piece-part costs for new molds or modifications per JST cost programs,
assisting the Molding Supervisor in quoting new products.
8. Designs to be consistent with good commercial practices, demonstrating consideration of manufacturing cost,
quality requirements, volumes, and Tool Room support capabilities.
9. Acts as the primary backup for the Molding Supervisor when not on location.
10. Collaborates with global JST facilities and travels as required to support projects. Occasional international travel
(including to JST Japan) for project alignment or potential cross-training may be requested.
11. Supports the mold build, fitting, and conditioning phases of a project. A willingness to actively participate in
hands-on assembly and qualification on the shop floor is desired but not required.
12. Works directly with mold processors to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve molding issues during
production runs or sampling.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist customers and sales staff as required.
2. Support Quality Engineer with product testing and dimensional analysis as required for mold transfer.
3. Prepares and delivers internal and external engineering presentations.
4. Performs other functions or duties as assigned to ensure company goals are met.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Associate Degree in a technical field and/or equivalent practical experience (BS in Mechanical/Plastics
Engineering preferred).
3. 10+ years minimum computer drafting and practical experience in Mold Design.
4. Solid Works experience preferred.
5. General computer knowledge (Excel, Word, Google Workspace, etc.).
