Senior Data Architect
Summary:
The Senior Data Architect will design, build, and optimize enterprise data ecosystems supporting analytics, reporting, and AI-driven insights. This role focuses on cloud-native data architecture on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) while integrating enterprise reporting tools including MicroStrategy, Power BI, and cloud-based data movement technologies such as Qlik, Fivetran and Google Data Transfer Service (DTS). The Data Architect will collaborate with business stakeholders, engineering teams, and analytics leaders to deliver scalable, reliable, and modern data platforms.
Location: Plano TX (Hybrid onsite)
Duration: 6 Month Contract to Hire
Compensation: Negotiable

Responsibilities:
Data Architecture & Cloud Engineering
  • Design and implement scalable data architectures on Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer, Dataflow, Dataproc).
  • Establish data modeling standards (3NF, star/snowflake schemas, semantic layers) to support enterprise reporting and analytics.
  • Develop secure, efficient pipelines for structured and semi-structured data.
  • Implement governance frameworks for data quality, metadata, and lineage.
  • Optimize BigQuery storage, performance, and cost management.

Data Integration & ETL/ELT
  • Build and orchestrate automated data pipelines using Fivetran, Google DTS, and custom ETL/ELT frameworks.
  • Create robust ingestion patterns for batch and streaming data.
  • Troubleshoot data integration issues, latency problems, and pipeline failures.
  • Partner with application teams to integrate SaaS, on-prem, and cloud sources.

Enterprise Reporting & Analytics Support
  • Architect and maintain data structures for MicroStrategy semantic layers, cubes, datasets, and dossiers.
  • Enable enterprise BI platforms (MicroStrategy, Power BI, Tableau) through efficient data models and governed data layers.
  • Drive consistency across dashboards using a unified data layer or Universal Semantic Layer.
  • Collaborate with reporting teams to improve performance, governance, and user adoption.

Security, Compliance & Governance
  • Implement data access controls leveraging IAM, service accounts, and VPC-SC.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and industry data standards.
  • Design disaster recovery, backup, and high-availability strategies.

Collaboration & Leadership
  • Work closely with product owners, data engineers, analysts, and architects across the organization.
  • Serve as a technical advisor for large enterprise reporting and integration initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support cross-functional architecture reviews.

Qualifications:
Minimum
  • Master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture or data engineering.
  • Strong expertise with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Composer, Dataflow, Cloud Storage).
  • Hands-on experience with Qlik, Fivetran, Google DTS, or equivalent ingestion tools.
  • Proficiency with enterprise reporting platforms (preferably MicroStrategy, plus Power BI/Tableau).
  • Advanced SQL and data modeling expertise.
  • Experience designing secure and governed data environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Google Cloud Platform Professional Data Engineer or Architect certification.
  • Experience with MicroStrategy Mosaic, Library, Workstation, or Semantic Graph.
  • Python experience for pipeline and orchestration scripting.
  • Experience with cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices.
  • Familiarity with streaming architectures (Pub/Sub ? Dataflow).
  • Knowledge of data catalog tools (Dataplex, Collibra, Alation).
