Job Description
Ensure the integrity of data within Wellmark's data warehouse through the proper execution of tasks as outlined below. During the BUILD of data warehouse assets, this primarily includes oversight of the Design and Development phases of the SDLC (software development life cycle) process, including working as a member of an IP (information product) agile team to plan and coordinate work, conducting a Data Impact Assessment of the proposed design, profiling data to ensure it is fit for use, conducting Source to Target reviews, and identifying and loading Code Sets and Metadata. During the RUN of data warehouse assets, this can include supporting smaller ACR requests, creation of Data Scorecards, and assisting in researching and resolving data issues.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree or direct and applicable work experience.
  • 1+ year of experience in a business analyst or business systems-type role which includes analytics and business intelligence tools usage.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to work with modeling, designing and implementation of high-quality data management solutions while working closely with key business stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify issues or inconsistencies, obtain relevant information, relate, and compare data from different sources, and recommend alternative, "out of the box" solutions.
  • Naturally curious, proactive, and innovative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Technical skills with the ability to work with tools such as SQL, SAS, Informatica, PowerBI, etc.
  • Exposure to agile methodologies and management tools such as Azure DevOps.
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills with the ability to continually re-prioritize and/or multi-task.
  • Proven interpersonal skills - ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and team members to ensure a collaborative work environment to reach shared goals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, expressing complex concepts clearly and concisely in order to deliver messages suited to the audience.

Additional Information
Job Responsibilities
a. Represent Data Governance as a member of an IP (information product) agile team. Help identify, plan and coordinate work scheduled to sprints to support agile initiatives or ACRs submitted by the business.
b. Conduct data Impact Assessments to review the appropriateness of the proposed design for agile initiatives, and the second order impacts to data integrity of the data warehouse.
c. Perform Data Profiling and analysis to provide descriptive statistics and insights that support Data Governance and Technology resources in defining data requirements, designing data assets, creating Source to Target documentation, testing, and development of technical and business metadata.
d. Assist in implementation and maintenance of Business Metadata by entering new and/or updating existing business/logical names, definitions, and valid values in the business metadata repository. Maintain Technical Metadata from source to target data mappings in the metadata repository. Communicate business metadata changes when data assets are released to production.
e. Support the development of data assets by entering code sets and code translation rules in code reference management systems such as STAR, CDMA and Informatica RDM.
f. Perform Source to Target, Design, and Code Reviews as needed.
g. Support the remediation of data issues found in testing and production through data analysis when appropriate.
h. Develop, publish, and maintain Data Quality Scorecards in collaboration with the Data Stewards in order to automate the collection and monitoring of critical data elements. Create Data Quality Trend Statistics and identify potential data quality risks to Senior and Lead Data Governance Analysts.
i. Identify potential data quality issues found through Data Quality Scorecards or Data Profiling. Provide support in the triage, impact analysis and resolution of data quality issues as needed by data steward or technology resources.
j. Develop tools to support the building and maintenance of data assets such as Testing, or Reporting tools needed by other Data Governance or Business Analytics resources. Leverage SQL and applications such as SAS, Informatica and PowerBI to help create efficiencies and enhance business processes and information.
k. Keep informed, support and adhere to regulations and processes including Wellmark's software development lifecycle (SDLC), data warehouse requirements / standards, Data Governance policies and procedures and business analysis and reporting protocols.
l. Other duties as assigned.
