The (USA) Senior Merchant leads category strategy and financial management for a complex portfolio, driving customer-focused decisions across multiple channels. This role oversees supplier negotiations, pricing, and promotional strategies while managing team performance and development. By leveraging data insights and collaborating cross-functionally, the Senior Merchant ensures alignment with business objectives and optimizes category profitability. The position requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and operational execution to support long-term growth and deliver exceptional customer experiences within a dynamic retail environment.

The Senior Merchant team is dedicated to inspiring confidence in men’s style by offering a trusted selection of quality products with great value. This team leads category strategy, supplier partnerships, and financial management to deliver exceptional customer experiences across channels. They drive merchandising initiatives, negotiate effectively, and manage team performance to achieve business goals. Focused on continuous improvement and data-driven decisions, the team fosters collaboration and operational excellence to support Walmart’s commitment to providing reliable, stylish options that meet customer needs with integrity and professionalism.
What you'll do:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive category strategies to drive long-term business growth and profitability.
  • Manage profit and loss responsibilities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to meet targets.
  • Lead supplier negotiations, establish terms, and monitor performance to ensure optimal partnerships and pricing.
  • Oversee assortment planning, modular layouts, and item lifecycle management to align with customer needs and business goals.
  • Guide and develop team members through coaching, performance management, and career development initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align channel strategies and support omni-channel customer experiences.
  • Utilize data analytics to inform decisions, optimize pricing, promotions, and inventory management.

What you'll bring:
  • Proven expertise in category management, merchandising, and supplier negotiations within complex retail environments.
  • Strong financial management skills, including profit and loss ownership, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, driving engagement and performance.
  • Experience leveraging data analytics and digital tools to inform strategic decisions and optimize category performance.
  • Ability to develop and execute comprehensive category and channel strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Skilled in managing supplier relationships, contract terms, and performance metrics to ensure operational excellence.
  • Commitment to delivering customer-centric solutions and maintaining high ethical standards.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
