As a member of the Blue Origin family of companies, Honeybee Robotics has been at the forefront of robotics for over 40 years. Our Colorado location specializes in creating advanced motion control solutions for NASA, defense, and commercial programs. Our work has played a critical role in thousands of projects, spanning from conceptual design studies to flight missions, including NASA's Artemis I Mission and the Roman Space Telescope. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will participate in the development, design, test, and manufacturing of Honeybee Robotics' Motion Control products. Working with other engineering disciplines within the team, you will assist in the architecture development of these systems, deriving and developing requirements, assisting with proposal efforts, analyzing and simulating system performance, and finally verifying that performance on flight articles.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Architect closed-loop control systems incorporating motors, sensors, structures and drive electronics

Synthesize and define interfaces between multiple engineering disciplines

Present technical content to customers and internal stakeholders

Provide guidance and support on test requirements and associated verification methods

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited technical college or university in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 8+ years of relevant work experience designing electronics for regulated industries

In-depth understanding of motors, gearing, feedback & commutation sensors, and motion control methodologies

Demonstrated experience delivering functional hardware on schedule

Experience with:

  • Design analysis and simulation (Matlab Simulink)

  • Requirements verification tools (JAMA)

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics Engineering

Experience designing motion control and electromechanical systems for space environments

Demonstrated experience leading technical teams in product development efforts


Compensation Range for:

CO applicants is $133,500.00 - $186,898.95

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
