Job description

Senior Mechanical Engineer:
The firm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with 8+ years of HVAC and plumbing design experience to join its Washington, DC (Georgetown) office. This role provides senior-level technical leadership within a growing local mechanical team while also supporting projects nationally.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with comprehensive experience in mechanical system design and documentation across multi-family housing, commercial, and government projects. This position plays a key role in project leadership, client interaction, and mentoring junior staff.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to mechanical engineers and designers
Lead mechanical and plumbing design efforts from concept through construction
Develop and manage project work plans and schedules
Establish system selections, basis of design, and ensure quality of deliverables
Coordinate mechanical and plumbing design with other disciplines and project managers
Represent the mechanical discipline in client meetings and internal reviews
Participate in project meetings and maintain clear, effective communication
Provide construction phase support, including submittal reviews and RFI responses
Maintain and help develop mechanical and plumbing design standards
Support quality control initiatives in collaboration with senior engineering leadership
Serve as a senior technical resource for HVAC and plumbing design across teams
 
Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years of focused mechanical/plumbing design experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license required
Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with Trane TRACE or similar load calculation software
Strong communication skills with the ability to present information clearly to clients, managers, and project teams.
