Job description

Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer (MPE)
Hypertherm Associates is looking for a Senior MPE to lead a team of four Manufacturing Process Engineers and drive continuous improvement across our manufacturing operations. This role combines people leadership, industrial engineering expertise, and process innovation to improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance.
As the Senior MPE, you bring a strong background in manufacturing and industrial engineering, experience collaborating closely with Quality teams, and a broad understanding of manufacturing technologies including automation, motion control, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and fixture design.
What you'll do:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Manufacturing Process Engineers.
  • Drive safety initiatives and ensure safety procedures are integrated into manufacturing processes.
  • Support production teams in resolving technical challenges and improving performance.
  • Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Design and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, and workstations.
  • Lead pFMEA activities and apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize processes.
  • Provide DFMA feedback during new product development and introduction.
  • Evaluate, justify, and implement new manufacturing equipment and technologies.
  • Develop equipment and process technology roadmaps.
  • Lead cross-functional projects, establish project plans, budgets, and schedules, and communicate progress to leadership.
  • Establish engineering standards, mentor engineers and technicians, and foster technical growth within the team.

Who you are and the experience you bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 4+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment.
  • Previous experience as a Manufacturing Process Engineer or similar role.
  • Experience leading projects and directing technical resources.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, pFMEA, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience partnering with Quality teams on root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvements.
  • Ability to evaluate and apply manufacturing technologies to solve business challenges.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across functions and drive results through collaboration.
