Job description

Syndeo is seeking an experienced and analytical Senior Management Analyst (Finance) to support complex accounting, grant management, financial reporting, auditing, and budget functions at the City of Wichita. This role serves as a key financial partner to departments across the organization, overseeing federal and state grant administration, financial compliance, reporting, and project budgeting. The Senior Management Analyst works closely with program managers and leadership to ensure grant-funded projects are properly established, monitored, and reported while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and accounting standards.

The ideal candidate combines a strong finance and accounting background with grant management experience, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple departments to support organizational goals.

Pay: $31.90

Responsibilities

  • Review, establish, and monitor federally and state-funded grant projects, including project setup, budget creation, and ongoing financial oversight.
  • Prepare and submit financial drawdowns, reimbursement requests, and required grant financial reports in accordance with grantor requirements.
  • Serve as a financial liaison to departments, providing guidance on grant funding, budgeting, expenditures, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor grant activity to ensure expenditures align with approved budgets and funding restrictions.
  • Analyze, audit, and review financial records and accounting systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare, review, and present complex financial reports, summaries, and analyses for both finance and program stakeholders.
  • Coordinate financial reporting requirements between finance staff and program managers to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Utilize financial ERP systems to maintain grant, project, and financial records and reporting.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audit activities.
  • Identify trends, discrepancies, or irregularities in financial data and develop corrective action recommendations.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budget revenue and expenditure estimates.
  • Develop and improve accounting processes, systems, and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration (with accounting coursework), or a related field.
  • Minimum of four years of professional accounting, auditing, grants management, or related financial experience.
  • Strong finance and accounting background with experience managing grant-funded programs and projects.
  • Experience preparing grant budgets, financial reports, reimbursement requests, and drawdowns.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state grant regulations, compliance requirements, and reporting standards.
  • Experience working within financial ERP systems and reporting platforms.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse departments and communicate financial concepts to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Grant writing and grant administration experience preferred.
  • Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background and drug screening requirements.

This is a temporary position at the City of Wichita, with the goal of permanent hire within a year of employment.
