Job Title
Senior Mainframe Software Engineer
Overview / Summary
We are seeking a Senior Mainframe Software Engineer to support the ongoing operation, enhancement, and modernization of enterprise applications. This role will serve as a primary developer responsible for application support, development, customer interaction, and modernization initiatives. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Owners, Product Managers, and fellow engineers, to deliver features, resolve issues, and support application migration efforts to cloud-based platforms.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key contributor supporting enterprise applications and related products.
  • Provide on-call and production support.
  • Develop and implement required features to support business and compliance requirements.
  • Manage assigned deliverables and actively maintain the product backlog.
  • Review, troubleshoot, and support defect resolution activities.
  • Assist in prioritizing defects and enhancements within the backlog.
  • Ensure solutions deliver value to both customers and the business.
  • Participate in application modernization initiatives and collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Mainframe COBOL and JCL solutions to support operational and project requirements.
  • Perform application support activities, including system support, security and audit reviews, and maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct unit and integration testing.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in mainframe development, including design, analysis, and coding.
  • Strong experience with COBOL (IMS), JCL, CA7, DB2 and/or BigQuery.
  • Experience with COBOL Stored Procedures and real-time and batch processing.
  • 2+ years of experience implementing z/OS Connect, SFTP, SOAP APIs, REST APIs, and other system-to-system integration methods.
  • Experience using source code management tools such as Endeavor and GitHub.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve production incidents and business support issues.
  • Experience performing application support, maintenance, and operational activities.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate across global teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to business-critical needs.
  • Experience with unit and integration testing.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative when addressing unexpected issues.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Mainframe DB technologies.
  • Experience with Google BigQuery.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
