Senior Looker Developer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior Looker developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Senior Looker Developer, you need advanced experience in data modeling, SQL, and business intelligence concepts, typically supported by a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. Expertise with Looker’s LookML language, dashboard development, and integration with SQL databases is essential, as are certifications in Looker or other BI tools. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and clear communication skills help you understand business requirements and deliver actionable insights. These skills ensure you can build scalable, efficient data solutions that drive informed decision-making across the organization.

What is a senior Looker developer?

A Senior Looker Developer is a data professional responsible for designing, building, and optimizing business intelligence solutions using Looker, a data analytics and visualization platform. They create data models, develop dashboards, and ensure that data is accessible and accurate for business users. Senior Looker Developers often collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into actionable insights. Their expertise includes LookML (Looker's modeling language), SQL, and best practices for data visualization and reporting. They also mentor junior developers and help drive the adoption of data-driven decision-making within organizations.

Both roles require strong SQL skills, but the Senior Looker Developer is more technical and platform-specific, whereas the Data Analyst emphasizes data interpretation and business understanding.

What are some common challenges faced by senior Looker developers when working on large-scale BI projects?

Senior Looker Developers often encounter challenges such as optimizing complex data models for performance, managing version control in Looker projects, and ensuring data consistency across multiple sources. Collaborating with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective LookML code can also be demanding. Senior Product Manager, Growth

Greenlight Financial Technology

Fort Washington, MD • Remote

$129K - $170K/yr

Full-time

Re-posted 2 days ago

Job description

Greenlight is a family technology company on a mission to help families raise financially smart kids and navigate life together. Its suite of products — including the Greenlight app, debit card, Safe Family GPS trackers, and Family Hub — brings together financial tools, safety features, and everyday family management in one connected experience. Designed for busy families who want convenience without compromise, Greenlight continues to innovate alongside the evolving needs of modern life. Today, more than 6.5 million family members trust Greenlight to stay in sync.

At Greenlight, we're here to make the day-to-day easier and futures brighter, so families can spend less time managing life, and more time living it. That's why we get out of bed every morning.

Registration is the most critical growth lever Greenlight has - it’s where millions of families decide to take the leap. We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager, Growth to own and optimize this journey end-to-end: driving incremental registrations, improving conversion across every step of the funnel, and shipping experiments fast enough to compound learning into measurable growth.

This is a high-visibility, high-urgency role sitting at the center of Greenlight’s Growth team. You’ll work cross-functionally with Marketing, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Payments, Partnerships, Legal, Risk and Compliance and you’ll have direct line-of-sight to executive leadership. The right person moves fast, thinks in experiments, and treats every data point as a signal to act on.

This role reports to the Senior Director of Product and sits within the Product Led Growth team. You will be embedded in a dedicated cross-functional pod with Engineering and Design, with close partnerships across Marketing, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Payments, Partnerships, Legal, Risk and Compliance.

Your day-to-day:
  • Own the end-to-end registration funnel: from the moment a visitor lands to the moment they become an active Greenlight family.
  • Identify and eliminate friction at every step: form design, identity verification, plan selection, payment, and onboarding handoffs.
  • Build and maintain a prioritized experiment backlog informed by funnel analytics, user research, and competitive teardowns.
  • Target 6+ experiments per month, designing tests that are statistically sound, fast to ship, and easy to learn from.
  • Define and own the primary success metric: reg conversion rate (reg complete / sessions) across the full funnel, with reg start as a leading indicator.
  • Tier experiment surfaces by traffic volume prioritizing high-volume flows where you can call wins on statistical significance in reg complete.
  • Optimize for quality of registrations, not just volume - track downstream signals including engagement and early retention.
  • Run A/B and multivariate tests across registration screens, pricing displays, plan framing, onboarding steps, and upsell surfaces.
  • Develop strategic growth initiatives beyond incremental optimization
  • Work closely with Marketing to ensure continuity between ad creative and landing/registration experience: reducing intent-to-action drop-off.
  • Partner with the Upgrades PM to create a coherent journey from acquisition through premium conversion.
  • Bring customer psychology to your decision-making: understand what motivates parents to start, what creates hesitation, and how to design flows that build confidence at each step.
  • Write sharp, actionable product requirements that unblock engineering rather than constrain it.
  • Work in an agile environment with a dedicated pod: maintaining high execution velocity while managing Legal and Compliance review in a regulated industry.
  • Communicate experiment results, product bets, and roadmap priorities clearly and regularly to senior leadership.
  • Iterate quickly: use post-launch data to inform the next experiment before the current one is cold.
What you’ll bring to the team:
  • 6+ years of product management experience, with a focus on conversion funnel optimization, growth, or registration/onboarding in a consumer-facing product.
  • A proven experimentation track record - you’ve run high-velocity experiment programs (4+/month) and know how to design, call, and sequence tests for maximum learning.
  • Deep comfort with funnel analytics: you should be ready to pull your own data, know your way around SQL or BI tools (Mixpanel, Amplitude, Looker), and can distinguish signal from noise.
  • Strong cross-functional instincts - you’ve navigated complex stakeholder environments including Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Payments, and know how to move fast within constraints.
  • Executive presence: you communicate up and across clearly, adapt your message to your audience, and don’t wait to be asked for updates.
  • Ownership mentality - you proactively identify gaps, propose solutions, and follow through. You don’t need a playbook to get started.
  • Urgency and scrappiness: experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments where speed matters and you figure things out yourself.
  • Customer psychology instincts - you think about why users behave the way they do, not just what they do.
Preferred experience:
  • Experience with mobile or app-based registration and onboarding flows.
  • Familiarity with KYC, identity verification, or regulated financial product flows.
  • Experience working in a subscription or freemium model with a focus on trial-to-paid conversion.
Work perks at Greenlight:
  • Medical, dental, vision, and HSA match
  • Paid life insurance, AD&D, and disability benefits
  • Traditional 401k with company match
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Paid company holidays and pop-up bonus holidays
  • Professional development stipends
  • Mental health resources
  • 1:1 financial planners
  • Fertility healthcare
  • 100% paid parental and caregiving leave, plus cleaning service and meals during your leave
  • Flexible WFH, both remote and in-office opportunities
  • Fully stocked kitchen, catered lunches, and occasional in-office happy hours
  • Employee resource groups

The total compensation package for this position will also include a discretionary performance bonus, equity rewards, medical benefits, 401K match, and more. Who we are:
It takes a talented team to aim for a mission like ours. We're looking for people who ask "is it bold enough?" People who bring their real selves to the table and push the people around them to do the same. We win by never hesitating to jump in, offer a hand, or share the credit, because we know we're stronger together than apart. And through all of it, the mission stays the thing we measure ourselves against: are we doing right by the families counting on us? If that sounds like your kind of team, we'd love for you to apply.
