The Senior Inventory Accountant is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of all inventory-related financial activity. This role oversees inventory transactions across purchasing, receipts, in-transit movements, reserves, cost changes, and valuation while ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls. The position leads inventory-related month-end close processes, supports audits, and partners cross-functionally with operations and supply chain teams to improve reporting efficiency and financial visibility.Key Responsibilities:Inventory Accounting Management
- Oversee end-to-end inventory accounting processes and ensure accurate transaction recording.
- Reconcile inventory accounts and validate inventory movements.
- Analyze inventory variances, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Manage purchasing, receipts, in-transit inventory, reserves, adjustments, cost changes, and valuation.
Month-End Close- Lead inventory-related close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze inventory financial reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to resolve discrepancies.
Process Improvement & Internal Controls- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.
- Support internal and external audits, including inventory control reviews.
Financial Reporting & Analysis- Provide detailed inventory reporting and analysis to support decision-making.
- Monitor inventory turnover, obsolescence, reserves, and valuation adjustments.
- Support ad hoc financial analysis related to inventory and SG&A as needed.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5+ years of inventory accounting or financial reporting experience.
- Strong knowledge of inventory accounting principles and GAAP.
- Experience with SAP and advanced Excel skills.
- Proven ability to implement process improvements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and cross-functional communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments.
- Knowledge of inventory costing methods (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average).
