Job description

Havenly is looking for a Senior Textiles Designer to expand our textile collections, with a focus on hand-loomed and hand-knotted rugs. This role owns the development of new, signature styles from the ground up, translating our customers' modern aesthetic into heirloom-quality designs. You'll need to be equally comfortable in the weeds of day-to-day design execution and providing oversight for a growing design team. This role reports to the Head of Merchandising and works closely with Product Development, Merchandising, and Supply Chain.

Design & Development

  • Lead the design and development of Havenly Brand's textile collections, crafting original yet timeless styles that meet timelines and sales targets.
  • Identify assortment opportunities based on emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive research; partner with Product, Merchandising, and Analytics to layer on data that informs merchandising strategy.
  • Execute and oversee the creation of technical sketches, specifications, sample comments, and quality control documents that are clear and actionable across languages and varying literacy levels.
  • Manage the process hands-on to perfect design, quality, and sustainability of the product before samples are produced.
  • Partner with the Supply Chain team to ensure quality control standards are met throughout the product life cycle.
  • Mentor a growing team and build an internal culture focused on elevated design, innovation, and sustainability.
  • Manage team priorities and align timelines across internal resources and artisan partners.
  • Oversee annual budgets for sampling and team travel.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Present new collections to leadership and internal teams through the lens of merchandising and mission.
  • Roll up your sleeves and help fill in gaps when needed - after all, we're a startup.

At Havenly, we're building with AI as part of how we work. We're looking for people who are genuinely curious about AI-assisted tools and eager to adopt t hem; this is about curiosity as much as existing expertise.

We Are Looking for People Who:
  • Have 8-10 years of hands-on experience in textile and rug design, including 4+ years managing a design team.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of manufacturing rugs made by hand in natural, sustainable materials, and a firm grasp of Havenly's customers and aesthetic across our brands.
  • Can own the design process end to end - from concept to production - crafting concise collection narratives and distilling key insights for leadership.
  • Approach ambiguous problems by figuring out what's broken and acting on it, not waiting to be told what's next.
  • Move fast, take real ownership of outcomes, and hold themselves to a high bar.
  • Collaborate well across teams, with a low-ego, no-drama approach to getting things done.
  • Are able to travel internationally as needed.

Bonus points if you also have strong sketching ability in Adobe Creative Suite or fluency in a second language.
