Job Summary:
Mortenson is a top builder, developer, and EPC company, and they are seeking a Data Solutions Senior Developer. This role is responsible for designing, building, and evolving complex Power Platform solutions and provides technical leadership while mentoring other developers.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain complex Power Platform solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI with a focus on scalability and maintainability.
• Architect solutions that effectively consume Fabric-based data products across bronze, silver, and gold layers.
• Apply Data Mesh principles by enabling domain-aligned consumption of curated data products without managing the underlying data platform.
• Lead integration of non-Fabric and transitional data sources, applying enterprise data standards and guiding migration toward future-state architecture.
• Design advanced Power BI solutions, including semantic models, performance optimization, and enterprise reporting patterns.
• Serve as a technical authority for Power Platform within the Data Solutions team.
• Define and enforce best practices for: o Application architecture o ALM, source control, and CI/CD pipelines o Security, compliance, and governance.
• Review solution designs and code from other developers to ensure quality and consistency.
• Partner with the Platform & Data Engineering team to align Power Platform solutions with enterprise standards.
• Lead technical discussions with business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into effective solutions.
• Mentor Associate and Software Developer level team members through code reviews, design guidance, and knowledge sharing.
• Provide guidance to business users and citizen developers on responsible Power Platform usage and data consumption.
• Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on Power Platform capabilities, limitations, and design tradeoffs.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and drive root-cause resolution.
• Optimize existing applications and reports for performance, usability, and cost efficiency.
• Ensure comprehensive documentation of solutions, integration points, and architectural decisions.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 6–8+ years of professional experience developing enterprise solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform.
• Advanced hands-on experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI.
• Strong experience consuming enterprise data, preferably from Microsoft Fabric.
• Deep understanding of Medallion architecture and Data Mesh principles as applied to analytics and application development.
• Proven experience integrating multiple and complex data sources, including APIs and non-Fabric platforms.
• Strong expertise in: SQL and structured data, Application lifecycle management (ALM), DevOps pipelines and automated deployments.
• Demonstrated ability to design secure, governed, and scalable solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to lead technical decision-making.
• Strong communication skills and experience influencing technical and business audiences.
Preferred:
• Experience designing and optimizing semantic models for enterprise BI.
• Experience with enterprise analytics technologies such as SSAS (Tabular), SSIS, or OLAP cubes.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, governance, and role-based security.
• Experience with API design, custom connectors, and advanced Power Platform integration patterns.
• Experience leading or contributing to Agile/Scrum teams in a senior or technical leadership role.
