JOB SUMMARY

This role will be responsible for setting up, running, and monitoring injection molding machines, and auxiliary molding equipment (grinders, chillers, loaders, robots etc) within a custom injection molding and automation environment. This position ensures production equipment and manufacturing cells operate safely, efficiently, and consistently while meeting production, quality, and customer requirements. 


Please Note: This position is for 3rd shift: 10:00pm - 6:00am.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Injection Molding Operations and Set Up

  • Set up and run injection molding machines - all basic process steps.
  • Safely remove and set up molds in injection molding machines.
  • Monitor and run auxiliary molding equipment - grinders, chillers, loaders, robots etc.

Process Troubleshooting and Maintenance

  • Troubleshoot injection molding process issues and make appropriate adjustments to maintain production and quality requirements.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and manufacturing cell components in accordance with established schedules.
  • Adhere to preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Troubleshoot and repair of equipment.
  • Communicate actions and problem resolution to the next shift.
  • Perform routine checks on equipment; documents status; completes necessary reports.
  • Work from specifications, blueprint drawings, prints and other technical documentation.
  • Tear down; replace defective component units and parts such as injection molding machine, screw/barrels, check ring and nozzles, bearings, motors, servo motors, PLC's, gears, electronic drives, clutches, breaks, belts, chains and electrical parts.

Safety and Compliance

  • Move, install and adjust appliances, fixtures, motors and other electrical/mechanical equipment for safety.
  • Requests assistance from others for any problems beyond area of knowledge or expertise.
  • Uses a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Follow detailed instructions from others or written format.
  • Adheres to siffron Des Plaines safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Actively speaks up and reports safety, environmental or quality concerns. 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Verify parts and maintenance inventory and order replacement parts as needed.
  • Assist assembly operators, as needed.
  • Assist in handling material activities, when required.
  • Perform quality audits and inspections.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

 EDUCATION, LICENSES, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in setting up and running injection molding machines
  • Must be self-directed and have the ability to work with minimal supervision. 
  • Experience working some maintenance, at a manufacturing facility. 

SKILLS (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning, Other)

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English 
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend work orders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well with others or in an individual capacity.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to work different shifts depending on what is required, preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
  • Able to work in a production environment.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and/or stoop
  • Able to walk, stand and otherwise perform job functions on concrete floors with safety boots/shoes.
  • Ability to work in manufacturing environment occasionally being exposed to dust, odors, fumes and noise.
  • Ability to work in extreme hot and cold weather.
