Job description

Reporting directly to the Executive Creative Director, the Senior Designer is a position that requires demonstrated qualifications and skill set to contribute to and highly impact a project’s successful design solution and will include project-based leadership accountabilities and responsibilities to prepare for the next career level within the Design studio.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Supports and contributes to the project team’s executed design solution and deliverables for assigned projects
  • Executes and delivers quality project-based solutions efficiently and within designated timelines, while incorporating and maintaining direction and feedback from the project leaders
  • Leads and/or contributes to client presentations and communications
  • Hand sketches, digitally renders, or illustrates solutions throughout a variety of Design phases: Conceptual, Schematic, Design Development and Construction Documentation
  • Ensures deadlines are being met and the work is within client expectations
  • Interface directly with outside team counterparts and internal departments to lead, identify issues, track those issues and collectively develop solutions
  • Exudes a ’go where needed’ attitude and outlook on role
  • Participates in process improvement and best practices within the department
  • Proactively learns and shares information and knowledge as a DI subject matter expert
  • Mentors and supports the success of the Creative Studio team members
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrate a strong proficiency with using design programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Sketchup), research skills (for storytelling) & digital or hand sketching abilities to convey design concepts
  • Ability to learn new skills and software quickly and teach those skills to Creative Studio team members
  • Ability to give direction and constructive critique and elevate to Creative Studio leadership team when needed
  • Consistently and proactively exemplifies the desire to be team player
  • Provides leadership in the midst of adversity
  • Demonstrates and influences progress with quality and design solution techniques

Education, Certifications, and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.F.A) in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Industrial Design, Interior Architecture, or related field
  • 5+ years’ proven design experience in a professional business required
  • Proficiency developing message schedules, sign location plans and designing sign systems
  • Knowledge of print production methods
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Attention to detail at all times
  • Exercises sound judgement, business sensibility, and discretion and seeks assistance from Creative Director as needed
Physical Demands

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, or crawl; to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; and to provide specific vision abilities including close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to talk and hear.

Work Environment

Due to our onsite Fabrication process, the work environment characteristics include wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.
