Job description

We are seeking a Compliance Specialist to join our Global Public Sector Legal Compliance team. In this role, you will support the attorneys on our team who advise on compliance matters related to Amazon's public sector business worldwide, including government contracting, procurement regulations, post-government employment, political law, gift compliance, and organizational conflicts of interest across multiple jurisdictions.
Key job responsibilities
As a Compliance Specialist on the Global Public Sector Legal Compliance team, you will provide day-to-day compliance support to the attorneys advising on Amazon's public sector business worldwide. You will draft and maintain SOPs and internal guidance, and manage compliance documentation and reporting. Your responsibilities include supporting compliance program operations across government contracting, post-government employment, political law, gift compliance, and organizational conflicts of interest. You will partner with business teams to implement compliance requirements, develop training and communications, and project manage portions of company-wide compliance initiatives. You will also perform gap analyses, track program metrics, and escalate legal issues to senior team members as appropriate.
A day in the life
You'll start the day reviewing open compliance questions from business partners and coordinating with attorneys on time-sensitive matters. You'll draft or update SOPs and internal guidance, prepare reporting for leadership, and respond to business inquiries on compliance topics ranging from gift disclosures to government contracting requirements. Throughout the day, you'll balance project management responsibilities - tracking deadlines, updating documentation, and advancing compliance program workstreams - with substantive research and drafting tasks. You'll collaborate closely with attorneys and cross-functional stakeholders, adapting quickly as priorities shift in a fast-paced, global environment.

The Public Sector Legal Compliance team plays a critical role in enabling Amazon's public sector business to operate with integrity and in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations worldwide. Our team supports Amazon Web Services and other Amazon businesses serving government customers at the federal, state, local, and international levels. We are trusted advisors who deliver practical, business-oriented compliance solutions while maintaining the highest ethical standards. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience working proactively and independently, meeting deadlines, and delivering on projects and tasks
- Experience working with cross-functional teams across business development, marketing, operations, product development, legal, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience drafting policies, SOPs, or compliance communications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local government contracting laws, rules, and regulations
- Experience with public sector compliance matters, including government contracting, procurement regulations (e.g., FAR/DFARS), post-government employment, political law, gift compliance, or organizational conflicts of interest
- Experience supporting attorneys in a legal or compliance department
- Experience in the technology or cloud computing industry

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
