Position Summary

The Senior Project Manager provides leadership and oversight for HVAC construction projects while supervising and developing the Project Management team. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. The Senior Project Manager serves as a key leader within the Operations team, driving project performance, standardizing project management processes, mentoring project managers, and strengthening relationships with customers, subcontractors, and business partners. This position will work closely with the Rieck leadership team to grow the HVAC construction business, help to maintain and strengthen existing relationships and develop new relationships within the industry.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Provide overall leadership and oversight for multiple      HVAC construction projects from pre-construction through closeout.
  • Lead project planning, scope reviews, budgeting,      scheduling, risk management, and resource allocation activities.
  • Monitor project performance to ensure adherence to      schedules, budgets, contract requirements, safety standards, and quality      expectations.
  • Review and approve project financials, including      forecasts, labor utilization, change orders, billing, collections, and      cost control measures.
  • Collaborate with field leadership, estimating,      purchasing, and executive leadership to ensure project success.
  • Resolve escalated project issues and develop corrective      action plans as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes,      regulations, company policies, and contractual requirements.

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Directly supervise, mentor, and develop Project      Managers and Project Coordinators.
  • Establish performance expectations, conduct performance      evaluations, and provide ongoing coaching and professional development.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and      succession planning for project management personnel.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration,      customer service, and continuous improvement.
  • Balance workloads and assign project responsibilities      based on business needs and team capacity.
  • Serve as a technical and operational resource for      project management staff.

Financial & Operational Management

  • Oversee project portfolio performance and      profitability.
  • Lead monthly project review meetings and present      project status, forecasts, risks, and operational metrics to senior      leadership.
  • Develop and implement best practices, processes, and      reporting standards to improve project execution and operational      efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost      reduction, and enhanced customer satisfaction.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives and operational      goals established by company leadership.

Customer & Business Development

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers,      contractors, engineers, architects, and business partners.
  • Participate in project interviews, client meetings, and      business development activities.
  • Support efforts to secure negotiated work, repeat      business, and long-term customer partnerships.
  • Act as a senior representative of the company in      resolving customer concerns and maintaining client satisfaction.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 8-10 years of progressively responsible project      management experience in HVAC, mechanical construction, or a related      construction industry.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of leadership or supervisory      experience managing project management personnel.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex projects and      multiple project teams simultaneously.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction      Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education, trade experience,      and leadership experience will be considered.

Skills
