Job description

The Senior Project Manager provides overall leadership, technical oversight, and successful delivery of complex engineering, automation, energy, and industrial infrastructure projects. Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, vendors, and stakeholders, this role ensures effective communication, alignment of expectations, and achievement of project objectives. Responsibilities include managing scope, schedule, budget, risk, and project execution while maintaining technical excellence, customer satisfaction, and compliance with contractual and quality standards. Based in Denver, Colorado, the Senior Project Manager collaborates closely with engineering, operations, commissioning, and executive leadership teams to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead assigned automation, controls, SCADA, OT networking, and industrial projects from initiation through commissioning, startup, and closeout, ensuring successful delivery of technical, operational, commercial, and customer objectives.
  • Develop and execute project plans, including scope, schedule, resource allocation, communication strategies, budgets, risk management, and delivery milestones.
  • Provide leadership and accountability to multidisciplinary project teams, driving collaboration, performance, and timely execution of project deliverables.
  • Serve as the senior technical authority, providing guidance on system architecture, engineering design, technical standards, implementation strategies, and resolution of complex technical challenges.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, suppliers, utilities, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and managing expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and stakeholder communications, ensuring alignment on objectives, status, risks, and critical decisions.
  • Monitor and control project scope, schedule, budget, resource utilization, and financial performance; identify variances and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage change control processes, including scope modifications, change orders, contract amendments, and impact assessments.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate technical, commercial, operational, and contractual risks while maintaining project risk registers and response plans.
  • Establish and maintain effective project information and document management processes, ensuring accurate reporting, documentation control, and executive-level visibility.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement, ensuring adherence to company policies, customer requirements, engineering standards, and regulatory obligations.
  • Support executive leadership through project performance reporting, escalation of critical issues, strategic decision-making, and optimization of project outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Project Management, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive project management experience in engineering, automation, industrial systems, utilities, energy, infrastructure, or related industries.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading complex, multi-disciplinary technical projects.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a senior technical authority or technical lead.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation, SCADA, controls, OT networking, commissioning, and systems integration projects.
  • Proven experience managing client relationships and large project portfolios.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing project budgets and forecasts.
  • Experience developing and maintaining detailed project schedules.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and negotiation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with large-scale industrial, energy, utility, or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience overseeing engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Familiarity with EPC, EPCM, and systems integration project delivery models.
  • Knowledge of contract administration and commercial project management principles.

Salary Range

$140,000 - $180,000
