The Role

PVEDI recently partnered with Stratus and is seeking a Sr. Project Manager. The Sr. Project Manager is responsible for oversight of the investigation, analysis, and examination of the performance of a building as it relates to the structural elements, building envelope (façade and roof) and surrounding site conditions related to the overall aspect of building construction and their effect on the building’s performance as a whole. Review the ongoing work (reports, correspondence, calculations, drawings, etc.) of staff for the completion of project activities (field and office).

Responsibilities
  • Manage technical and administrative aspects of new façade/roofing service opportunities from proposal preparation to final acceptance by client; invoicing and accounts receivable.
  • Review design/analysis specifications and calculations for projects are accurate and updated and provide technical support and guidance.
  • Design schematic layouts of structural framing by using applied software for the analysis, interpretation and design of structural components. Oversee the production of documentation to ensure accordance with client specifications.
  • Review assessment information gathered during site investigations. Reviews data obtained during scaffold drop, fire escape and balcony evaluations utilizing expertise on deficiencies to be noted.
  • Supervise contractors and staff to ensure contractors adhere to the contract documents (field/office) and prepare summary documentation for presentation with results of investigations.
  • Review and comment on technical reports ensuring structure and language utilized is easily understood by client and grammatically correct.
  • Provide feedback to direct reports in the form of performance evaluations, training, development and improvement plans. Mentors new team members regarding work processes, company policies, safety, time reporting and general office rules.
  • Lead building envelope testing and structural framing condition evaluations (material sounding, water intrusion tests, etc.) to determine façade, roof and structural characteristics/deficiencies.
  • Create and actively maintain project schedules, change orders and budgets; identifies resources to be used for each project ensuring that all projects are sufficiently staffed and kept on schedule in accordance with client agreements. And deadlines and PVE company standards.
  • Oversee the preparation of work plans, project specifications, bidding documents, cost estimates, and related submissions as they relate to city requirements for presentation to clients, and city/state/federal review and permitting.
  • Manage small projects and assist with all aspects (engineering, budgeting, scheduling, and client communication, etc.) of project administration on larger more complex assignments.
  • Identify new work opportunities and inform Regional Director of potential projects with new or current clients.
  • Establish project objectives, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy; provide coordination of project designs with other disciplines.
  • Develops and implements project scope and proposals in accordance with PVE, LLC standards and specific client requirements.
  • Analyze the project scope, the clients RFP and firm's proposal with Director. Receive all incoming project information and distribute.
  • Communicates effectively to staff and upper management project specific information. Provides information concerning deliverables, scope, cost, schedule and to be able to coordinate resources (staff) amongst the different practice groups.
  • Performs QA/QC review of all project related deliverables prior to submitting them to the client and/or reviewing agency. Provides a work product free from errors and omissions and to obtain timely approvals from reviewing agencies.
  • Ensures registrations are maintained by attending necessary continuing education courses. The goal is to maintain their registration as well as their abilities as a licensed design professional and technical competencies.
  • Manages project budgets and invoicing. Processes invoices on time and develop project budgets.
  • Contribute to overall performance, growth and business development by working on cross-functional teams in order to meet unified goals.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • 8-10 years of experience in Building Envelope assessment and/or design in support of various existing building projects and initiatives.
  • Solid experience with project and staff management and development team members related to skill development, processes, compliance, team building with engineering staff and other design consulting and construction professionals.
  • Registered Design Professional (PE or RA)
  • Understanding of building codes that apply to special inspections, connection detailing, lateral system determination, foundation work and underpinning.
  • Ability to delegate project specific tasks to direct reports.
  • Working knowledge of structural framing, building envelope, codes, zoning as they apply to egress, fireproofing, energy, waterproofing, occupancy and FAR.
  • Provide directions, work independently in carrying out assigned tasks
  • The position is based in Manhattan, NY and will involve moderate travel. Job requires the ability to navigate urban, rural and industrial site. Must have a valid driver’s and safe driving record.
