Job description

Senior Tax Manager / Tax Director

Albuquerque, NM | Onsite | Partner-Track Opportunity

Are you looking for more than your next tax leadership role?

We're seeking an experienced tax leader to help shape the future of an established public accounting firm. This is an opportunity to step into a high-impact leadership position with a clear path toward partnership for someone who is passionate about technical excellence, mentoring others, and building lasting client relationships.

If you've reached a point in your career where you're ready to have a greater voice in the direction of a firm-not just manage a book of business-this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • True leadership role with significant influence on the future of the tax practice
  • Defined path toward partnership and long-term succession
  • Stable, employee-focused CPA firm with exceptional retention
  • Collaborative culture where relationships matter
  • Strong work-life balance compared to many public accounting firms
  • Competitive compensation with meaningful year-end bonus potential
  • Opportunity to make a lasting impact rather than simply filling a position
What You'll Do

As a senior leader within the tax practice, you'll:

  • Lead and oversee tax department workflow and priorities
  • Review complex tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, estates, and nonprofit organizations
  • Mentor, coach, and develop tax professionals
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and build long-term relationships
  • Provide technical tax planning, research, and consulting
  • Drive quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the department
  • Partner with firm leadership to support strategic growth and succession planning
What We're Looking For
  • Active CPA license
  • 7+ years of public accounting tax experience
  • Experience leading teams within a CPA firm
  • Strong technical tax review experience
  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills
  • Passion for mentoring and developing others
  • Interest in growing into a long-term leadership and partnership role

Candidates with experience as a Tax Manager, Senior Tax Manager, Tax Director, or similar leadership position within public accounting are encouraged to apply.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation

  • Starting around $140,000+, with flexibility for highly qualified candidates
  • Meaningful year-end bonus
  • Long-term partnership opportunity for the right individual

Benefits Include

  • 100% employer-paid Medical, Vision, Life, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • 401(k) with employer contribution
  • Paid CPE and continuing education
  • CPA exam and professional membership reimbursement
  • Flexible spending accounts
  • Supportive leadership committed to long-term employee success
Location

This position is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Relocation assistance may be considered.

If you're looking for an opportunity to build something meaningful, grow into firm leadership, and join a team that values its people as much as its clients, we'd love to hear from you.
