Job description

Summary:
Consults with Information Technology leadership, business teams, development teams, and Information Security to define and maintain desktop architecture aligned with Mapfre's enterprise technology strategy for the North American region. This role designs, implements, and evolves end-user computing platforms, including desktop, laptop, virtual desktop, and endpoint management solutions, ensuring they meet business needs, security standards, and performance expectations. The position also establishes architecture standards, provides technical guidance to team members, and supports the adoption of new workplace technologies across the organization.
Responsibilities:
  • Solution Architecture: Designs, documents, and implements innovative and scalable IT solutions that meet specific business needs, ensuring alignment with the overall enterprise architecture.
  • Technical Design and Documentation: Develops detailed technical designs, specifications, and diagrams to document and communicate architectural decisions.
  • Technology Integration: Evaluates and integrates new technologies into existing systems, considering scalability, security, and performance within the established architecture.
  • Technical Expertise: Possesses strong expertise in operating systems, virtualization technologies, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) (advantageous).
  • Staying Current with Technology: Continuously learns and stays updated on emerging technologies relevant to solution architecture.
  • Collaboration: Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams (development, operations) to ensure successful implementation of designed solutions.
  • Testing and Validation: Participates in the testing and validation of designed solutions to ensure they meet business requirements and technical specifications.

Experience and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or 5-7 years of experience in a systems engineering role or relevant IT experience, with some experience in designing and implementing IT solutions.
  • Works collaboratively with senior IT leadership, receiving guidance on strategic initiatives and complex architectural decisions.
  • Provides technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and architects, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Makes independent decisions on technical architecture design choices within established frameworks, aligning with business needs and technical feasibility.
  • Regularly interacts with internal stakeholders (development, IT operations) and external vendors regarding technical solutions and architecture design. Communication involves clear and concise technical explanations tailored to the audience.

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at Mapfre are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

$125,000 - $170,000
