Job description

We have a position open for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer with a growing Power Distribution company in Phoenix, Arizona. In this role, you will provide guidance and mentorship to a team of engineers designing Medium Voltage distribution equipment, including MV switchgears and switchboards.


This is a hybrid position that requires work onsite at the manufacturing facility in Phoenix, Arizona. 


As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will:

  • Design equipment including medium voltage switchgear, switchboards, panel boards, and control panels
  • Design power distribution equipment and systems, including one-line diagrams and overall system architecture for medium voltage equipment. 
  • Review drawings to include single-lines, three-lines, elevations, control schematics, site plans and enclosure layouts.
  • Support protection strategies, including arc-flash
  • Serve as company’s technical subject matter expert for Sales, Leadership, Customers, and Vendors.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineering teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of the company’s products and capabilities.
  • Manage schedules and due dates. 


Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master's in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • PE license in Arizona or Texas preferred
  • Familiarity with relevant standard: UL/IEC/IEEE/NEMA including UL 891 and UL 508A.
  • 5+ years of experience in Electrical, Power Generation, or Power Distribution fields.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for drafting.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks Electrical or similar.
  • In depth knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and other standards.
  • Knowledge of Switchgear or similar power distribution equipment.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E strongly preferred.
