Job description

Senior Data Strategy Manager
American International Group, Inc. (AIG) is a leading global insurance organization. About the Role
The Senior Data Strategy Manager is working closely with the Head of Data Strategy to align AIG's data strategy and operating model to business priorities, manage AIG's data budget, prepare executive communications, and drive end-to-end delivery of strategic data initiatives. This role partners with business and technical stakeholders to translate enterprise strategy into executable roadmaps, ensuring priorities are clearly defined, and funded, progress is tracked against plan, and critical initiatives are being delivered.
Responsibilities
  • Program Leadership: Act as program manager and delivery lead for high-priority data initiatives. Drive end-to-end execution, including planning, stakeholder alignment, risk management, and outcome delivery.
  • Priority Setting:Support definition of Data Office priorities in line with enterprise objectives. Ensure delivery plans, resources, and execution are tightly aligned to agreed priorities.
  • Financial Planning: Support annual and multi-year financial planning for the Data Office. Track spending, monitor actuals vs. plan, and provide transparency on budget utilization and outcomes.
  • Executive Communications: Prepare high-quality executive briefings for senior stakeholders and steering committees. Provide clear updates on strategic priorities, progress, risks, and value realization.

Required qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in data strategy, data management, or similar leadership roles, preferably in insurance, banking or other related fields.
  • Experience leading cross-functional data programs from design through delivery.
  • Demonstrated ownership of budget planning, financial tracking, and cost management.
  • Strong understanding of value realization, business case development, and ROI tracking.
  • Proven ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise executive briefings.
  • Deep knowledge of data ecosystems (data platforms, governance, AI/ML concepts).
  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering, or a related field.

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience with cloud data/AI ecosystems (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and common platforms/tools (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, Spark, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with Data Governance and Responsible AI practices (e.g. data quality, privacy, security, fairness, and model risk management).
  • Experience delivering GenAI solutions, including evaluation, safety, and governance.
  • Program/project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) and/or agile certification (CSM/PSM, SAFe).
  • Experience leading distributed/onshore-offshore teams and external partners.
  • Master's degree in a related field is nice to have.

For positions based in New York, NY, the base salary range is $173,000-$217,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
