Job description

Description
B&L is actively seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to join our growing Transportation group for an upcoming project located in Westchester County, New York. This multi-season project (2025-2026) focuses on bridge rehabilitation and bicycle path construction. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing all services necessary for the construction inspection of this infrastructure project. The candidate selected will work closely with the Construction Manager and Resident Engineer to ensure the project is completed within the NYSDOT specifications and standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and mentor junior inspectors and technician staff.
  • Serve as lead field inspector on complex construction activities (bridge erection, HMA paving, concrete operations).
  • Coordinate with contractor superintendents and Resident Engineers to resolve field issues.
  • Complete, review and approve inspection reports, test results, and submittals.
  • Monitor on-site environmental and safety compliance.
  • Complete project documentation using the APPIA construction management software system.
  • Review contractor invoices and recommend payments based on verified quantities.
  • Assist with change order justification and claim documentation.

Requirements
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of highway/bridge construction inspection experience, including oversight of junior staff.
  • Extensive familiarity with NYSDOT specifications and procedures.
  • NICET Level III in Transportation/Highway Construction.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification.
  • Work Zone Traffic Control training.

Estimated Pay Range: $48-55/hour.
Actual compensation may vary based on related work experience, geographical location and market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
