SierTeK Ltd. is seeking a Senior Analyst (Epidemiologist/Statistician/Mathematician) to support an opportunity at Wright Patterson AFB, OH
Position Overview Section
The Senior Analyst provides advanced statistical, epidemiological, and analytical support to the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM), Aerospace Medicine Studies and Analysis Division (FES). The position leads the design, analysis, and interpretation of complex health surveillance, personnel, operational, and readiness data to support evidence-based decision-making across the U.S. Air Force. Working independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, the Senior Analyst develops predictive models, conducts advanced statistical analyses, prepares scientific publications, and provides technical expertise for operational research and program evaluation initiatives.
Essential Job Functions
Data Analysis & Research
  • Design, lead, and conduct advanced analyses of health surveillance, medical, personnel, operational, and readiness datasets supporting Air Force human performance and operational research.
  • Perform statistical analyses to evaluate health outcomes, operational readiness, force health protection, and program effectiveness.
  • Develop innovative analytical approaches to address complex research questions and operational challenges.
  • Build, validate, and refine statistical and predictive models examining relationships between health, personnel, operational, and environmental factors.
  • Perform model verification and validation activities, identify performance issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.

Data Management & Integration
  • Retrieve, integrate, and manage data from multiple military and healthcare information systems, including health surveillance databases, personnel systems, deployment records, and operational data repositories.
  • Design data architectures and establish relationships between disparate datasets.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive data dictionaries, metadata documentation, and data mapping specifications.
  • Document programming code and analytical processes in accordance with USAFSAM programming standards and industry best practices.
  • Obtain and maintain access to required government databases supporting research activities.

Statistical Programming
  • Develop statistical programs and perform data analysis using:
    • SAS
    • SAS Enterprise Guide
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Adobe Acrobat
  • Utilize or rapidly learn emerging analytical platforms such as:
    • Python
    • R
    • Tableau
    • SAS Viya
    • Qualtrics
    • Envision
  • Create analytical datasets and automate recurring analyses where appropriate.

Scientific Communication
  • Prepare technical reports, white papers, memoranda, scientific manuscripts, and presentations communicating research findings.
  • Produce, at a minimum, one publication-quality technical report and one conference presentation annually.
  • Present study findings to USAFSAM leadership, Air Force stakeholders, scientific conferences, and professional organizations.
  • Support preparation of peer-reviewed publications, posters, and briefing materials.

Collaboration & Leadership
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams, epidemiologists, clinicians, statisticians, and operational subject matter experts.
  • Participate as the statistical expert on interdisciplinary research and program evaluation projects.
  • Interface directly with USAFSAM/FES leadership, government customers, and external collaborators.
  • Assist with knowledge transfer activities by preparing documentation and briefings for government personnel.
  • Support strategic planning and analytical initiatives that improve human performance, operational readiness, and force health protection.

Minimum Position Requirements
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in one of the following:
    • Biostatistics
    • Statistics
    • Data Science
    • Epidemiology
    • Public Health (with strong quantitative emphasis)
    • Or another closely related analytical discipline approved by USAFSAM/FES.
  • Minimum five (5) years of professional experience performing advanced statistical analyses in a healthcare, public health, military, or related environment.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and leading analyses of health surveillance, medical, personnel, or operational datasets.
  • Strong understanding of statistical methodologies, predictive modeling, and program evaluation.
  • Proficiency with:
    • SAS
    • SAS Enterprise Guide
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to quickly learn additional analytical technologies including Tableau, Python, R, SAS Viya, Envision, and Qualtrics.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, scientific publications, presentations, and executive briefings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Ability to obtain required database access permissions.
  • Ability to complete HIPAA training.
  • Ability to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

Highly Desired Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
  • Board Certification in Public Health (for candidates with a Public Health degree).
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience conducting health analytics using Department of Defense or U.S. Air Force data.
  • Experience working with military health surveillance, personnel, readiness, or operational databases.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience leading technical teams or supervising analytical personnel.
  • Experience publishing peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts and presenting research at national or international conferences.
  • Experience developing predictive analytics, machine learning models, or advanced statistical methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Air Force medical, personnel, and operational information systems.
