A Senior Component Engineer is responsible for selecting, evaluating, and managing electronic and mechanical components used in product designs. Additionally, they assess component lifecycle risks, source alternative parts, and maintain compliance with industry standards. Their role is critical in mitigating supply chain risks and ensuring product longevity.
A Senior Component Engineer’s daily tasks often include evaluating and selecting electronic or mechanical components for new products, collaborating with design and manufacturing teams, and ensuring component compliance with relevant quality and safety standards. They work closely with suppliers to resolve issues related to component availability, lead times, and obsolescence, and they may also be involved in root-cause analysis for field failures.
