Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this vital role you will be a strategic thought partner to brand and crossfunctional teams, responsible for generating rigorous, businessrelevant insights that inform brand strategy, execution, and decisionmaking.

Amgen is seeking a Senior Manager, Global Commercial Insights to lead insights generation for the rare disease pipeline to support global commercialization planning. This role partners closely with global marketing, global value and access, competitive intelligence, forecasting, and other cross-functional teams to provide insights that inform global go-to-market strategy, early commercial planning, therapeutic area strategy, and advancement of the pipeline.

Flexible Commuter role to Deerfield, IL or Thousand Oaks, CA office. You will work on-site 2-3 days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Synthesize information from a variety of sources (e.g., market research, competitive intelligence, secondary data, advisory boards) to develop strategic insights that address business needs
  • Integrate insights and knowledge to develop business cases and facilitate workshops to support clinical development plans, lifecycle management and other strategic decisions - supporting critical go/no-go decisions and senior leadership presentations
  • Plan, design, and lead primary market research with a research agency for assets across various phases of the product lifecycle to enable strategic decision making
  • Lead ad hoc strategic secondary analytics to inform strategic decisions
  • Be the subject matter expert on HCP, patient, and payer insights for the brand
  • Clearly communicate insights and recommendations to variety of audiences, including senior leadership (e.g., Therapeutic Area Heads, Disease Area Strategy Leads), and become a 'devil's advocate' when needed
  • Partner with commercial leadership and cross-functional partners to define and prioritize objectives, budget and work plans to meet evolving business needs
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with best-in-class vendors and look for opportunities to innovate and advance capabilities
  • Support advancement of AI capabilities for insights generation
  • Support Amgen's advancement in marketing excellence through aligned insights generation and deep brand-building knowledge
  • Ensure that both routine and ad-hoc projects are in compliance with all Amgen SOPs and meet service-level expectations for quality, timeliness, and budget
What we expect of you

Doctorate degree and 2 years of market research, analytics, competitive intelligence, sales and/or marketing operations experience
OR
Master's degree and 6 years of market research, analytics, competitive intelligence, sales and/or marketing operations experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 8 years of market research, analytics, competitive intelligence, sales and/or marketing operations experience
OR
Associate's degree and 10 years of market research, analytics, competitive intelligence, sales and/or marketing operations experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of market research, analytics, competitive intelligence, sales and/or marketing operations experience
In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 2 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above

Preferred Requirements

  • Demonstrated exceptional business acumen, strategic / critical thinking skills, and ability to influence key decisions
  • Proven ability to build and evolve brands through strategic insight generation, including expertise in market research design, Jobs-to-Be-Done methodologies, identification of moments that matter, and translating deep human insights into compelling brand narratives and customer experiences
  • Strong understanding of marketing and marketing strategy
  • Ability to independently extract, analyze, treat, and consolidate data from sources in formats with rigor and high level of accuracy and translate into actionable recommendations
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences, including senior management
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adaptively in team-based, cross-functional environments
  • Ability to balance a multitude of stakeholders and projects in parallel
  • Strong knowledge of drug development, commercialization and the broader healthcare industry (patients, HCPs, payers)
  • Experience leading primary research

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
