General Responsibilities Summary
Coordinates Senior Center events; plans, organizes, and coordinates community recreation programs for senior adults; initiates programs to grow membership; creates promotional material and promotes the events and services of the Senior Center on its website and social media channels by performing the following essential functions.
Essential Functions
The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Other duties may be assigned. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
Marketing and Communications: Assists in the preparation of advertising proposals, news releases, and brochures for the attraction of new Senior Center participants. Creates digital and print promotional content for Senior Center activities and events. Actively manages all social media for the Senior Center, including the promotion of center events and activities, updating important information, and responding to questions and comments. Manages the PHH Senior Citizen Center website via timely updates and the creation of new ways to engage and inform the community of its services and events. Photographs and/or records activities, programs, and events at the Senior Center for promotional and documentation purposes. Provides marketing support to the NLR Event Center and its staff as needed.
Activity and Event Coordination: Develops, promotes, and organizes (set-up and clean-up) activities in the Senior Citizen Center. Works with the Office and Rental Manager to assist prospective clients with event planning. Works with potential instructors and volunteers to ensure program quality and Center standards. Visits with center members to determine program and activity needs and performance.
Minimum Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
BA/BS in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Business, or related field from an accredited college or university and 1 year directly related experience to include social media creation, digital marketing, and communications; or High school diploma and 5 years directly related experience to include social media creation, digital marketing, and communications; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 3 years related experience working with senior citizens is required.
A Class D driver's license and good driving record are required and must be maintained throughout employment.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:
The supervisor sets the overall objectives and resources available. The employee and supervisor, in consultation, develop the deadlines, projects, and work to be done. The employee is responsible for planning and carrying out the assignment; resolving most of the conflicts which arise; coordinating the work with others as necessary; and interpreting policy on own initiative in terms of established objectives. The employee may also determine the approach to be taken and the methodology to be used. The employee keeps the supervisor informed of progress, potentially controversial matters, or far-reaching implications. Completed work is reviewed from an overall standpoint in terms of feasibility, compatibility with other work, or effectiveness in meeting requirements or expected results.

COMPLEXITY:
The work includes various duties involving different and unrelated processes and methods; the decision regarding what needs to be done depends upon the analysis of the subject, phase, or issues involved in each assignment, and the chosen course of action may have to be selected from many alternatives; the work involves conditions and elements that must be identifies and analyzed to discern interrelationships.
GUIDELINES:
Guidelines for performing work are scarce or of limited use; the employee uses initiative and resourcefulness. The employee often makes decisions that affect persons or situations beyond the scope of his/her job.
The benefits below are for authorized full-time, non-uniformed employees. (Uniformed employees are sworn Police and Fire Department personnel.)
Holidays - Twelve (12) paid holidays per year.
Insurance - 100% premium payment for employee health insurance, 75% paid health insurance coverage for dependents; paid life insurance.
Worker's Compensation - Coverage is provided for each employee for medical bills and work time lost due to on-the-job injuries.
Longevity Pay - After completing a full year of employment with the City of North Little Rock, an employee is granted longevity pay at the rate of $5.25 per month times the number of years employed.
Vacation - Accrual begins with date of hire with eligibility to use accrued vacation leave after six months of service. Vacation may be accumulated to a maximum of 30 days. Vacation is calculated:

Sick Leave - All full-time, regular, non-uniformed employees earn twenty (20) sick leave days annually with unlimited accumulation.
Discretionary Leave - Employees with two or more years of continuous service on January 1 of each year are granted 16-48 hours discretionary leave during that year, depending on length of service.
Retirement Plan - Mandatory and contributory, begins immediately.
