Role, Function & Organization
The Senior Business Analyst - Finance & Accounting is a key enterprise partner responsible for leading finance-related solution design, requirements gathering, and process optimization across multiple operating companies. This role guides users including finance, project operations, and shared services teams, in effectively leveraging IFS to support accurate financial reporting, operational insight, and scalable growth.
Operating as part of the Business Analysis team, the Senior BA works across departments to understand needs, translate requirements into system solutions, and ensure IFS is used consistently and effectively across a decentralized, project-based environment. This individual provides functional leadership, coordinates enterprise process alignment, and serves as a trusted advisor to finance leaders and business users.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Enterprise Business Analysis & Solution Leadership:
  • Lead discovery sessions with users across finance, operations, and shared services to understand business needs and translate them into functional requirements.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to design solutions that support enterprise processes while respecting operating company differences.
  • Serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders, the BA team, IT, and external partners to ensure solutions are aligned, feasible, and scalable.

IFS Finance & Accounting Functional Support:
  • Provide expert-level functional support for IFS finance modules (GL, Project Accounting, Costing, Billing, Revenue Recognition, etc.).
  • Support Controllers and finance teams in optimizing their use of IFS for month-end close, WIP, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
  • Guide users in best practices, configuration impacts, and process consistency across operating companies.

Integrations & Third-Party Systems Collaboration:
  • Partner with IT and integration teams to support and refine data flows between IFS and connected third-party applications (e.g., AP automation tools, payroll systems, job-costing tools, equipment or field management systems, reporting platforms).
  • Assist in evaluating business needs for new integrations and ensuring functional requirements are clearly defined.
  • Validate data integrity across systems, support troubleshooting of integration issues, and ensure workflows operate smoothly end-to-end.
  • Help users understand how upstream/downstream systems impact financial processes and reporting within IFS.

Process Optimization & Standardization:
  • Lead efforts to document, refine, and improve enterprise finance and project accounting processes.
  • Ensure IFS design aligns with accounting standards (GAAP), internal controls, and risk-mitigation practices.
  • Identify root causes of system or process issues and drive sustainable, long-term solutions.

Reporting, Data, & Analytics Support:
  • Partner with finance and BI teams to enhance reporting, dashboards, and analytics using IFS and connected BI tools.
  • Improve visibility into performance metrics such as project margins, backlog, and forecast accuracy.
  • Support executive, enterprise, and operating company reporting needs with accurate, well-structured data.

System Enhancements & Roadmap Execution:
  • Lead and/or support enhancements, upgrades, and new feature deployments within IFS.
  • Gather requirements, document processes, create functional specs, and coordinate testing and UAT.
  • Work closely with internal and external technical teams to deliver solutions that support enterprise strategy.

Change Management, Training & User Enablement:
  • Provide training, documentation, and ongoing support to ensure user adoption and consistent usage of IFS.
  • Act as a change leader, helping users understand system impacts and adopt new processes with minimal disruption.
  • Promote standardized processes where possible while supporting necessary operational flexibility.

Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination:
  • Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task.
  • Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention.
  • Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support goal of achieving zero accidents.
  • Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed.
  • Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field required.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in business analysis, finance systems, ERP support, or equivalent enterprise roles.
  • Hands-on experience with IFS ERP, especially finance/accounting functionality.
  • Experience with ERP integrations or cross-system data flows (directly or in partnership with IT).
  • Experience in multi-entity, decentralized, or project-based environments such as construction, engineering, or industrial services.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP), financial controls, and project accounting practices.
  • Skilled in cross-functional collaboration and influencing without authority.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, communication, and facilitation skills.
