Job description

The Lead Attendant, Operations is a senior field-based role responsible for executing and supporting daily facility and event setups at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC). In addition to performing hands-on work, this role assists with task oversight, safety adherence, and real-time problem-solving in collaboration with Operations Attendants.

Responsibilities

  • Support and assist with daily operational and event setups and breakdowns across JRTC facilities
  • Execute event layouts, room setups, and field support elements in accordance with plans, specifications, and direction from Operations leadership
  • Confirm that setup components (furniture placement, equipment positioning, barricades, cones, signage, etc.) align with approved layouts, instructions, and established standards
  • Identify and correct setup issues in real time to ensure accuracy, safety, and readiness
  • Participate in and oversee the safe movement, placement, and breakdown of furniture and equipment throughout the complex
  • Ensure proper lifting techniques, equipment use, and safety practices are followed during all moves
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of Operations storage areas and ensure equipment and furniture are returned to designated locations after use
  • Support clubhouse operations as needed, including locker room setup, laundry assistance, hydration stations, and preparation of player and staff support spaces
  • Ensure on-field hydration stations are prepared and set up according to event schedules, and that coolers are retrieved, cleaned, and properly stored after use
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and readiness of assigned areas in coordination with Operations Attendants
  • Assist with dugout, seating bowl, and exterior facility support tasks, ensuring work is completed in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Serve as a field-based point of contact for the Senior Coordinator, Facilities & Event Operations
  • Communicate setup progress, operational challenges, and safety concerns to Operations leadership in a timely and professional manner
  • Assist with receiving incoming shipments, including unloading, inspection, labeling, inventory verification, and staging or storage in designated locations
  • Assist in monitoring and removing garbage around the facility grounds, with a focus on exterior locations, to maintain a clean and inviting environment for guests
  • Assist with gate operations, including directing vehicle traffic, safely parking vehicles, providing guest directions, and processing payments for designated events
  • Ensure assigned tasks are completed accurately and thoroughly before transitioning to new assignments
  • Other duties as assigned by Operations Leadership

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • The preferred candidate will have 1-3 years of experience working in facility or athletic operations
  • Ability to manage one's own time and the time of others.  Supervisory experience of at least 1 year strongly preferred
  • Candidate must be a self-starter who will work as a team player and will also be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of the game of baseball preferred
  • Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred
  • Ability to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and excellent driving record
  • Ability to lift boxes and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions, including excessive heat and humidity
  • Ability to pull tarp when necessary

The Jackie Robinson Training Complex (JRTC), operated by Major League Baseball (MLB) located in Vero Beach, Florida, serves as a year-round hub for amateur development initiatives and events designed to diversify and strengthen the talent pipelines of baseball and softball. We are the permanent home to several signature youth-focused events and programs, such as the Nike RBI World Series and the Hank Aaron Invitational, which teach players how to succeed on and off the field. The historic facility, formerly known as Dodgertown, was renamed Jackie Robinson Training Complex in honor of its trailblazing namesake.
