Senior Applications Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Applications Engineer to lead the design, development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and predictive analytics solutions supporting the customer. The successful candidate will translate complex business requirements into secure, scalable AI/ML solutions operating within an AWS GovCloud environment and will support mission-critical DoD logistics capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex business, system, data, infrastructure, and application requirements and translate them into AI/ML solution designs.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and sustain machine learning models, analytics platforms, and supporting application components.
  • Lead development of predictive, prescriptive, and generative AI capabilities supporting logistics, supply chain, security, infrastructure, and operational use cases.
  • Develop reusable software tools, data pipelines, APIs, model components, and application subsystems that support software reuse and domain analysis.
  • Collaborate with Government stakeholders, hosting architects, cybersecurity teams, administrators, and technical SMEs to identify, prioritize, and implement high-value AI/ML use cases.
  • Support AWS GovCloud implementation activities, including development, test, and production environments.
  • Support Agile, DevSecOps, configuration management, release management, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including design specifications, solution architecture documentation, requirements traceability matrices, test plans, test results, deployment plans, POA&Ms, and security artifacts.
  • Support system testing, including unit, system, interface, regression, performance, integration, interoperability, negative, security, Section 508, and user acceptance testing.
  • Support cybersecurity compliance activities including RMF, ATO artifacts, Zero Trust controls, CAC/PKI authentication, encryption at rest, vulnerability remediation, and IL-5 cloud hosting requirements.
  • Monitor deployed model and application performance and recommend enhancements to improve accuracy, scalability, resilience, usability, and operational value.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to software developers, analysts, testers, and engineering team members.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, or another technical discipline.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of relevant technical experience.
  • US Citizenship
  • Experience analyzing complex system requirements and designing software tools, subsystems, or enterprise application components.
  • Experience developing and deploying AI/ML, predictive analytics, or data science solutions in production or mission-oriented environments.
  • Strong software engineering background with Python or other modern programming languages used for production AI/ML development.
  • Experience with data engineering, data pipelines, model development, model testing, and model sustainment.
  • Experience with cloud-native application development, preferably in AWS or AWS GovCloud environments.
  • Experience developing scalable APIs, services, dashboards, or application capabilities supporting operational users.
  • Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a regulated Federal or DoD environment with strong attention to cybersecurity, privacy, and configuration management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Federal Government, or large-scale mission systems.
  • Experience with logistics, supply chain, transportation, financial, geospatial, sensor, or transactional data analytics.
  • Experience with AWS services such as SageMaker, Bedrock, Lambda, Glue, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, and related AI/ML or data services.
  • Experience with MLOps, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, or similar DevSecOps tooling.
  • Experience with Large Language Models, Generative AI, graph neural networks, time-series analytics, anomaly detection, fraud detection, insider threat detection, or recommendation engines.
  • Experience supporting RMF, ATO, STIG, ACAS remediation, POA&M development, or Section 508 compliance.
  • Active or previous Tier 3 (T3), NACLC, IT-II, or higher background investigation or clearance eligibility.
